that has pictures? I am looking to break down the gun to clean it and maybe do some tuning of sorts. I have broken down my old RWS model 34 and did a total tune and wondered how in difficulty it compared to a German made air rifle.

Take Aim, episide 8 if I recall.

It is much easier than the 34. Very little preload, no spring, dont have to make pins to keep the trigger group together, one one pin to knock out, not two... etc.

If i can help, let me know. Ive done mine 3 times in the past few months, lol.

Thanks guys! Will do microsalmo! I would like to see what can be done to make it a bit better. Thinking of crowning the barrel too when I break it down.

Thanks Gene. Once I get my bench in and sight her in and pump about 500 more pellets through the barrel gonna open her up to see how everything is doing and maybe do some fine tooth polishing and new seal if the one on it is a bit rough.

Just got the piston removed..............did not have to make/construct a spring piston compressor! I started looking at some devices from Harbor Freight and ran cross this for $13 and it did the trick!!!!! Got the 48" length aluminum clamp bar and used a aluminum dowel to press against the piston!

Did not have to make a thing and while it does take a bit of wrist strength to get the piston to move, it worked like a charm and the beauty is, it was already built!!!!!!!! It also adjust along the bar for different lengths!

So I used the Dremel to take the black paint finish off the piston and then I used the jewlery wheel for polishing to then make it slicker than a toads belly and used the polish compound to buff it on for even more slick shinyness!!! Then buffed it off with a polishing felt wheel. Now, when the JM piston seal comes in and moly paste I will reassemble.

The OEM piston seal looked to be in fairly good shape. One very slight nick on the outer edge. Overall no real burrs or rough areas on the piston itself.

Will post pictures later of the piston and gas ram. I need to clean the main internal housing for where the piston slides in with a cloth to get out any debris from the factory.

I hope when I get it all back together the fps goes up by about 2-3% on avg. for each pellet brand.

I really don't think polishing it will affect it bad or good because the piston cylinder does not really touch the inner area of the chamber it slides into. Sort of a sloppy fit. So if anything I suspect it just made for extra work on my part for sure. It sure looks sweet all silver and shiny!!!!!!!

The big thing I believe was cleaning out the factory crude in the gun and the cheap lube they use and making sure the piston seal was not nicked from the factory. If anythig I just hope it shoots the same or slightly better.

I will put it back once I get the Maccari piston seal and moly paste and then do about 100 pellets to get the dieseling out of the way then re-chrony her to compare to my non-tune results.

I did make note that the psiton cylinder when I pulled it out had no burrs or rough edges but really would not matter if they were minute in nature because the cylinder does not touch the inner shaft. I do think the newly applied moly paste with the internal cylinder shaft being cleaned will be the difference.

Inspected the factory seal a little closer.............a few minute small nicks along the edges. Measured the seal as well and it came out being .9895" on a digital caliper.

Started raining today so I took apart my Trail NP to have a look. Sure enough the piston seal is nicked, scratched and gouged! Looks like all they used for lube was a brown looking oil. From what I've read the the compression tube should not be polished but mine looks like a mirror inside. I'm hoping the seal is causing me to have lower numbers. Been getting @ 670 fps with the cphp 14.3 grain pellets.

Hi you may know already but do the brass washer mod, the grs.kit, the trigger and crown the barrel thats what i did and that thing is awesome. cheap and it works

where the barrel pivots on the chamber there are 2 plastic washers 1 on each side of the barrel, just replace them with brass ones so the barrel lock up is more consistant ,the plastic wears out. get them at the hardware store or get them with the grs kit from airgun toys

I got mine at Lowes... 5/8 brass washers if i racall $2. You will have to size them to fit but its a fun project. Just mike the oem ones and make brass ones the same size to start. Then fine tune.

Okie dokie! I know now what you mean. Thanks for the info. I went to Lowes after going to ACE to get my brass washers. I had to turn down the washers with my Dremel due not being exact same diameter across. Fitted them in then took off the rough edges and the surface edge from having to grasp the washers with lock pliers with a jewelers polishing stone. semi-tight fit but worked!!!!

Hope these hold up. Looks like maybe the piston seal and moly paste may get here by tomorrow. Reassemble then begin firing again!!!!
