i just posted yesterday that the starlings did not seem to be around yet and boom...their here. of course the weather here indiana is already spring-like. almost 60 today. anyway i was shooting some 20 ga shot shells from 37 yards and heard this guy talking above me in one of my maple trees. just pulled up and aimed center mass, because it was offhand, and pulled and it fell. Tar, our lab, who loves birds ran up and just pawed around on it. its funny how all my bird dogs dont seem to like them or grackles or crows but love turtle doves pigeons and other game birds. must be a funny smell to em... you can see her sneaking up from behind the tree in the pic...

nice shooting, the yellow beaks are already looking for places to nest here in Nw Mo. and they're doing there little courtship wing flappin thing by the holes they find, new batch comin up!
