Pellet Tin Candle

This is a cool way to reuse empty pellet tins. The tin is light, portable, and can be used while out in the backcountry. I have them in my hiking packs, hunting bags, canoe bags. They are great way to have a simple light/heat source in the woods.
Simply tear apart a small tea light candle and remove the wick.
Clean out an empty tin.
Place the wicks in the tin.
Place small candles in mason jar and place jar in a pot of water.
Heat the water and melt the candles.
Pour wax into tin.
Just like that you have a portable candle.

I love it!
...metal lid candles are great for outdoors but hard to find and smell like perfume. I got all these screw top tims I saved and now I know what I'll do with them. Thanks!

Great idea !!!
Actually see it as a way to recycle the waste CITRONELLA wax from the bigger back yard candles.
Some fresh wicks and wala !
Thanks !!

You are welcome!
Got to give credit to instructables.com for this one. They have many instructables that do the same thing with Altoids tins, so I figured why not use pellet tins.
By the way, I forgot to mention this in the post but I melted 4 tea light candles and used just three wicks. This seems to fill the tin about 3/4 full. If you use it in a backpack you can fit a pack of soft fold top matches on top of the wicks and just screw on the lid.

Yes, I have been making these from what is left from used candles. I purchased some wick string from Hobby Lobby. You can even make new larger candles if you have allot of wax from the used candles.

you know what else i've used them for, cut card board the same hieght as the tin and coil it inside the tin and top it of with wax. gives off enough heat to cook with and lasts a while

Excellent Idea. Used to do something like that with shoe polish can then polish the inside of the lid till it was mirror like and you have a directional candle.
