Ok, just setting up another reference point for my upcoming ( hopefully arriving soon...) JM ZRT kit self tune, in my D48 refurbished .22
It was 38deg and rainy at the range, not too much breeze. I shot on bench, seated, rested w\back of hand on the sandbags under the forearm.
The guys at the range commented "hey what kind of pellet gun is that, it sounds strong"... It was funny because his long range 308 savage was nearly blowing out my eardrums...He did like the accuracy..
Interestingly, at 24 yds JSB 18.13 were most accurate, under 1", at 50 yards, they opened up to about an inch and a half. JSB 16g were under 1"
Predator's were under 2". Maybe I shouldn't change,hmmmmm
Tomorrow I will try 100 yards at the range just to see what happens...

I agree. Why change anything until it NEEDS to be changed. If it anit broke, dont fix it.

Richard, I am going to tinker with the d48 only because somewhere within me, I think I can get it to about 23-25 FPE. or so and not lose it's great shot cycle. I'm hoping I can do this with the excellently rated ZRT kit, but I guess you never know what the outcome will be until it's done. If not, I will quickly put the parts back in and just quietly go back to shooting an awesome 21.2 FPE and quit looking a gift horse in the mouth on this excellent find of a rifle.

Are critters killed with 25 fpe any deader than critters killed with 21? I really hope it all works out for you. But even if it does, I anit changing mine until something goes wrong. Good luck brother.

Prettu good groups at 50 yds. I have the same outcome with the preds. They are great out to about 30 then they start to open up. Good luck with the zrt kit. Hopefully the shot cycle dosnt become unbearable.
And to answer the qeustion, yes i do beleive the critter would be deader with 25 fpe. See there are several levels of dead and all levels below 23 fpe are the zombie levels where there is real potential for creating zombies. But abouve 23 fpe you are zombie proof and there fore deader. Hope this helps to clearify things.

my 2 cents worth says that even grey squirrels hit dead on the mark 30 yds and beyond sometimes dont die right away so if your shooting at say 70m how much energy is still retained ? even an extra 2 ft lbs would help over the rainbow However to exchange energy for accuracy i would not do BUT if it aint broke.....vgl

I'm in the same boat, I bought a ZRT kit(back when JM included the seal with it) for my M52, but haven't installed it yet. The stock gun shoots real nice, so I hate to open it up....

Serendipitous day, yesterday. ZRT kit arrived, and I went to range determined to shoot some 100 yard groups. I noticed that many "magnum" springers all seem to do pretty well at around 50 yards, including my own D48 refurb, being able to shoot under 1" for 5 shots, with JSB 15.9 gr pellets. 100 yards tho
I tried this before, I had a real hard time even finding the paper! I entered all of the information on bc, fps, wt into the American Airguns ballistic calculator. It said that with JSB 18.13g it should have bout 27.15 inches of drop, given a 25 yard zero. For the JSB 15.9gr, it should have a drop of 21.5 inches. In the breezy, swirling conditions, I couldn't get Predators even on the page, so I skipped the 15.9 JSB figuring the lighter pellet would do worse in the winds.
The group of 15 pellets broke into three distinct groups w a few flyers. I'm left handed so you can see the pull and wind results. Group was about 2.75 inches, not too bad! especially with my ears ringing from all of the big rifles round me. I wore ear plugs UNDER my shooting headphones! I think w a trigger adjustment and more practice on my position, I could do better..
One thing, my POI was 9" below my POA which was the the top of the bar below the last mildot in my scope. It turns out, the AA calculator was pretty accurate.
Now to put in the ZRT kit in and run the tests at 25, 50 and 100 yards again with the same pellets...

Man-O-man! Thats great grouping at 100 yards. I liken that to a group about the size of a rabbit head.
