Trail NP break barrel pistol

If you are just going to use it for plinking  and paper targets isn't 500 FPS  plenty.I have a friend with the Crosman 357W and it onlly shoots 435 FPS and it is a great shooting pistol for the money.

The Crosman 357 is nice. I've easily taken nuisance pigeons in one shot under 10 yards with mine.

I'd love to see a ratcheting system for a piston gun.  With a lever to reduce torque.  The concept would be one full stroke would only bring the piston halfway back and a second stroke would finish the piston's movement to bottom (fully compressed).  I'm no mechanical engineer so not sure how it would all work.  Whatcha think?  With my Webley Alecto reaching into the 700fps range with no recoil on four pumps I'm not sure why I'd ever get a piston pistol.

Up at the beginning of this thread, in the third post, Dick Tracy posted a link to information on this pistol at TheGunSource.  Have any of you had any dealings with TheGunSource?  Is there anything about them that a person needs to know?

The reason I ask is because I must have caught that post just as it was going up.  I went to TheGunSource web site and, sure enough, there it was...photos, description ... even a price.  It was listed there at $94.  The site said "Place your order now and be the first ... bla,bla,bla ... lock in the price ... bla,bla,bla.  So, I did.  I bought one.  I filled out whatever it was that they needed for shipping information, paid for the gun with PayPal, the transaction went through and I got a receipt.  I thought that was pretty cool and so I started to wait.  A few days went by and I realized that I had never heard anything back from TGS.  So, I went back to that same web site and ... it was gone.  It looked then just like it looks now ... no photo, no information, no price.  Hmmmm.  So, I went to PayPal and, sure enough, the charge was there from when I paid for the pistol, but, 5 days later, TheGunSource reversed the transaction and canceled it.  Only, they still didn't give enough of a Rats A** to contact me at all.  I have still not heard anything from them. 

I want to know something more about them before I get on the phone.  What's up with these guys?  Do I really want to do business with them at all?  What do you think I ought to do?

I read your post a couple of times and understand that you did get your money back.  I also agree with you that you should have received a call explaining the reason for not having the product.  I did a Google search of TGS and appears there is a lot of complaints about them, especially for selling non stocked items.  It appears that anything you do with them, will fall on deaf ears.  I thought at the time it was funny that they were the only site that was advertising the pistol.  In fact I went to the Crosman site and requested an eMail when the product was available when I first heard about it at the Shot Show. 

If this situation happened to me I think the first thing I would do is contact the local BBB to see if there is a lot of complaints against TGS, and see if they have any suggestions or plan of action.  I hope that you can get your issues resolved to your satisfaction.

Just a side note or a PS.  I have my PayPal account set up to send me an email whenever money is put in or taken out of my account.

Reply to Dick Tracey:  Thanks for your reply, Dick.  Now that I have had some time to think about this, and having read your post, I think I am just going to forget about the whole thing.  I spent a good part of my life doing retail business with enthusiasts ... in my case it was motorcycles ... and I know from dealing with my competition that there are sellers who lie, cheat, steal and work very hard to earn their crappy reputation.  But, somehow, they seem to keep on going, and no amount of complaints or threats can make a dent in their armor.  Forgive me, but trying to talk to them is like peeing into the wind. The best thing a person can do is just shop somewhere else.  So, case closed on that.

Does anyone agree that a nitro piston pistol selling for $70 is probably going to be almost all plastic?  The more metal, the higher the price, I would think.  That's why I was hoping that this would turn out to be $125 - $150 at least as I want it to be really nice.  I feel that it would be kind of a waste to introduce something so new as a NP in a pistol, and then have the first one be on the lower end of the price and materials scale.  I am not so sure that, in something unique like this, that a low price is going to equate to larger numbers of sales.  Everyone will be somewhat cautious to see how this works out so I would hope that Crosman would want to give us something that was an awesome performer, not just something that was low priced.  On the other hand, what if this .177 is lower priced and there is a .22 waiting in the wings with all the bells and whistles?  That idea has been done before many times.
