Why do they do this?

This is the "dual caliber" RS2 they sell at wal-mart with the stock scope and stock clamps sent with the gun.  I don't use iron sights, and when I got it to begin with I was using a different scope.  I've now put the stock scope and clamps out and this is what I get:



Why do that?  If you're going to sell the gun with a scope as a package, why not sell it with clamps that clear the sights?

I've noticed that with some scopes, and not just the set you have.  On low power I can still see a bit of the front sight blade.  I think it's a bit of a compromise.  Theoretically, the lower to the bore line you can set your scope, the better.

It may just be easier to remove the open sights or just buy higher rings

Those crosshairs being out of level would bother me more than being able to see the front sight blade I think.

Oh yeah I want it as low as possible or I'd put a higher set on.  I really wasn't impressed by the plastic sights so I just knocked the front off.

And yeah...this was before being sighted.  I turned the scope a bit for the pic.

Dont't know 'bout most of ya'll,   but, higher mounts turn my
cheek weld into a chin weld. 

One reason all but one of my guns are stock irons or peeps.
...and even that one gets a Willliams peep for my indoor winter season.

Both of my 350's you could see the front sight bad. Still can on low mag on my 22 cal. I removed the site on the 177. But more disturbing it the crosshairs. Is the camers straight behind the scope and is the scope level?
