NPSS vs. Mongoose

I took the NPSS to work yesterday so I can get some long range target practice in. I was able to shoot inch and a half groups at 65 yards. Afterwards I tied a piece of hotdog to a string and hung it from a fence to attract some mongoose. After less than 5 minutes one shows up and at 32 yards I put the crosshairs on his head sent a FTT away. I hear the smack followed by the death dance. I reloaded and headed over to see it lying dead on the ground where it was shoot. The pellet went into his ear and exited out his cheek. The rest of the pack was spooked and never came for the bait after the first one fell.

The mongoose was shot in the mountains near Moanalua on Oahu. I was filing in at a fire station I don't normally work at. Pretty quiet there on weekends. There are lots of mongoose and pigs. There was actually 2 wild boar in a trap that was set up by US Army game wardens. It's on Government property.

Always commendable for you folks in HI to rub out those nasty and very destructive invasive species.

Nice shot placement with the NPSS and great groups at 65yds!  I know that's not easy to do with a Springer.

Harry, this was the first time I shot past 30 yards with a springer and it surprised me how difficult it is to keep tight groups. The concentration needed is unbelievable.

I enjoy shooting my pneumatic guns and powder burners but one of the reasons why I like springers is that I enjoy the challenge.
