Falcon Hunter vs Talon Magnum

First, I would like to say that I hope this is in the right sub-forum.  From my research, these rifles use pretty much the same interior and that interior is based on the Hatsan rifles.  Hatsan are Turkish, right?

So I am looking at these rifles on PA.  Both are Nitro Piston guns.  The main difference between the two is that the Falcon Hunter has a better scope and has the camo stock.  Personally, I think the camo stock is ugly.  It is also 60 bucks more expensive.

The Talon Magnum has a less functional scope.  It's smaller and doesn't have AO or at least it isn't advertised as having it like the FH's scope does.  It's also a right handed stock but the safety is in the middle.  It just has the cheek piece set up for a righty.  I am a lefty but that isn't a huge concern.

So I'm stuck between the FH in .22, the Talon Magnum in .22 or .25.  According to one report on here, the .25 when tuned, can send 30 something grain pellet through a 2x4.  What would you go with?

Second question in regards to these rifles.  People unanimously agree that the first step when you get your new rifle is to clean the barrel but they also warn that some rifles warn against cleaning the barrel with wire bore brushes.  Do these Walther rifles fall into this category?  I'd like to order the rifle, some pellets and the right cleaning kit all at once.

Update:  It actually looks like the .22 has a higher FPE than the .25.  So between the .22 FH and the .22 Talon Magnum, I guess the FH is the winner due to the better scope?

TFB i had the 25cal, f/h,and sent it back cause 1st the scope was junk,and it really was not practical since at that time i just shot targets,and i got the walther talon in 22.cal.great out of the box.did not use the scope that came with it,i put a nc star 3x12x56mm freedom series  on it with a 1 piece mount,had a friend of mine put a 180bar np in it,and man this gun is something special,and smooth as butter,goes threw a 1100 page phone book at 15feet. before the np 790pgs and can go one hole shots out to as far as i can hold it steady,i shoot only 28gr,and 32,gr eunjins out of it,mostly the 28.4 gr,as for the camo stock,i camo'd my  stock,and it looks far better than the tacky factory camo,the talon has the quattro trigger and the sas,and in my opinion is a well built air gun, you can get the refurbished talon at airguns-daily.com when they come around for sale ,and save a lot,also if you go to china gate, there's a post there on np conversion,and you can order a np from enforcer 19mmx125 and what ever bar you want.the 180 bar is what i use and its not that hard to cock to me,but i am a big guy,and i work on cars for a living,so i may just be strong,any ways on a 1 to 10 scale the talon 22cal out of the box is a 10 and with the 180bar np and a hone and macarri piston seal,the tuned gun is a 12...if you hunt its a 15,good luck and by the way i to am a lefty,i never had a gun with the cheek piece on the left side, probably would be comfortable to me now anyway,there are a lot of members here on this site who know a whole lot more about air guns than i do,i can only report on what i experienced and shoot.

If you are trying to decide between the two Walthers, you may want to take a look at Hatsan (the company that makes the Walthers). Richard at Airscopes has some on hand and will get more....and more models. The model 125 or 135 might be to your liking. Also...I got the model 95 in 22...and with just a short lube/debur tune, it hits at over 21 FPE. Gene has also had one stripped down and converted it to a nitro piston...and is getting very good results with his .177 model 95.
If you like a walnut stock...and it has the SAS and Quattro trigger, I would consider just going to the source. You will save money.

Supertech, where do you buy new nitro pistons from?  Everywhere I have looked has said they need to install it.  Did the 180bar NP fit right in or did the gun need modification?

I am hoping I can get the .22 Hatsan Mod 125 Sniper and do all these mods at some point.  I really like the look of that stock.  The cheek comb specifically based on the way I shoot.  The way I shoot is wrong but it works for me.

That's exactly who I was thinking about.   I'm wondering about the 180 bar NP.  Does it kill accuracy?  I don't want high power if I can't hit a thing with it.

    that's the million dollar question; for me no it don,t in fact i think accuracy is some what improved,gun has always been accurate,as for the np,i don't know if you can get the 180bar installed by rain air,but it sure is worth a try to ask,and you may not be able to cock it with a 180 bar np.there not for everybody,,i love mine,and i have even put the spring back in mine to see if there was really that much difference,there was,so i re installed the np,i don,t know if shadow[ed] would tune it and install the np you send him,but pm him and ask...he does great work i,m told.but you got to ask yourself do you really want a very powerful hard to cock np air rifle,now there not really recommended for plinking,or target practice,but i,m use to mine,and shooting 100 pellets per session in the norm for me,and really its not that hard to cock to me,,also with a 180bar np.you are putting a lot of stress on the seer and trigger components,and the piston and the seal,?that being said i have shot now over 3000 pellets out my 180 bar np walther talon magnum,no wear at all,except on the plastic plug that was my fault because i turned the np backwards to test the power and did not put a top hat on the rod,was easy to correct,part only $5.00 shipped.no other problems at all,well one; to be honest,seems it is so much fun to shoot that i tend to spend a lot of money on 28.4gr eunjin pellets.lol.gone threw 20 tins of them + a lot of other pellets to test it for which it likes the best,the, 14.3gr cphp it shoots to fast and is not as accurate,and is so loud when i shoot them...?in closing let me say,your right all the power in the world in a air gun is useless if you can't hit what you intend to consistently ..

Well the first problem is finding the rifle I want.  180bar shouldn't be a problem.  I'm a pretty big guy and I really want it to rain raccoon skull fragments.

With my .25 WFH....I find that I am actually more accurate and consistant because of the softer, smoother shoot.
Also, once you find the pellets your gun likes, you will become even more accurate because your velocity spread will drop dramatically. Mine with stock spring was about 25 fps...and after the NP was installed, the spread over 10 shots was 4.2 fps...much easier to be accurate with consistent velocity.
With the NP installed, you may not want to target shoot regularly, because of the cocking resistance, but for hunting...it is fantastic...and you can cock it and carry it around cocked.

I never planned on long target sessions.  Taking a few shots to learn something new or hone techniques is good.  I'm sure when I first get it, I know I'm going to shoot it a bunch.  Not just to get a feel for the rifle but to show my buddies how insane air rifles have become.

funny ; i never plan on shooting say more than oh,10 shots or so,then 100 or so shots later i,m wondering what happen to the pellets,kinda like lays potato chips.......................
