Want to do my first tune.....trail np .22

I wanted to do a tune on my trail np .22 all weather soon. (Mine broke after 200 shots a thread was posted about the matter so i am returning it and getting a new one but i still want to do a tune on the new one anyways) i never done any tune before or opened one up i want to know what it entails with this specific gun. I know i need to replace the piston seal. But i dont know what else i should do. Or how to do it for that matter. Or what tools i need etc. Also i know you need to debur these guns but what do i have to debur? (pictures would help) along with what things i need to order and from where. (i am handy and have tons of tools for all different things and i love rebuilding things) I also have a print out exploded view of this gun to start from. it doesnt seem to daunting is it?) ( i have already read the thread Under the hood of the benji trail np .22 an i need a more thorough and in depth instructions with dis/ assembly) anything would help thanks

Hi there again SKID! Some people buy their guns and immediately do their tuneups and others wait until their warranty runs up. Per your other post....We have the most helpful and knowledgeable people particularly a gent named SHADOW who does work for lots of people. Mine are still in the warranty period so Gene will have to wait! This forum also contains many useful archives of info on pretty much every brand of air guns that are out on the market right now. Check 'em out. It also is great to ask lots of questions, even though there are a few that play "sales" to various brands. First things first is to return your rifle for a refund and be sure to check out the classifieds. Many BEAUTIFUL guns that are proven from many great people here. Keep us posted on what your future rifles will be in your arsenal and don't hesitate to ask questions. Someone will be sure to help you! Welcome!

Lots of info on tunes in the library and info on needed tools also. Most of the info about tunes is generic, much like " How to change your spark plugs." ...on a car.

Agreed. I must have watched a dozen videos of tunes on varios rifles and read twice as many articles before I tried my first one. Knowledge is power, and the internet is a great source of both. That video link I gave you is just how to take down the Trail. Tuning requires a lot more work and care. Have fun!

well i returned the broken one and got the same gun but i know its new from the packaging and not a show model now for sure. And i happened to leave the old scope for the broken gun at home
hehe they didnt notice. So i got something out of the crappy gun and driving to another store since they were out of them...18 miles later i got my NEW one
. BUT back to tuning! With the warranty how the heck will crosman know if i opened it up if lets say it breaks and i put the old seal that came with the gun back in it before i shipped it to them IF it was to break again. I mean tuning is deburring, molly pasting and still have the old trigger to put in along with the old seal. so i dont see how they could possible know you opened it up if all the parts that were original i kept for a just in case i had to send it back.

not sure if they would know or not. but I have found that if you are just honest with them, they will take good care of you. chuck manfre is a member here and works for crosman. he has always been fair with me.
it's possible yours was dry fired in the store. anytime I buy from walmart, i make sure to get the box with the OEM staples

Thats exactly what i did. They gave me a box that was taped and that one was all unwrapped. They must have got a return back and repackaged it again! and it wasnt the floor model either so thats kind of a red flag for anyone buying one. As soon as i seen it i asked the lady nicely to get me an unopened box and she was all bent out of shape about it. But she got a new one out and i opened it to make sure it was untouched.

DONE! i finished my first tune ever! i got the new replacement and never shot it once until i tuned it. I put in a new seal and deburred and cleaned and molyed the gun.the gun it seems to be shooting prfectly fine and blows through plywood consistantly( i dont have a chrono so thats my test)
I put about 80 shots through it and is grouping well at 20 yards it still needs to be broken in more but i still am waiting for the tune trigger in the mail and after that i can locktite the scope and stock so the groups will shrink. Then i am gunna get a new leapers scope and do a little paint work with my airbrush
