Need some help on .22 caliber Super Streak

First, I'm new here and am glad to see that y'all are my kinda folks! I got my first adult air rifle a year ago and haven't shot it too much. I've installed the GRT-III trigger from CDT (thanks Charlie...great trigger at a great price), and I'm waiting on the Beeman 5039 adjustable scope mount to come in to address the significant droop this gun has. I'm also sending the gun in next week to Ed at Shadow Tunes & Camo for a full tune.

My question is this: Do any of you fine fellas know if the Super Streak can be converted to a gas ram? Have any of you done this? If it can, it might be a better option than the tune up simply because I plan to hunt exclusively with this gun and it would be an advantage to be able to leave the gas ram cocked for long periods of time when hunting and not risking a conventional spring taking a set. What do you think about this? Thanks for any help or insight you can give. BBJ

I can't answer your question re: gas ramming an SS as I have no experience with regard to that but I'm sure one of the other members will chime in and give you some useful info.

BTW. "The Rifleman" was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up

Hey John, welcome to GTA Forums. Glad you found us airgun nuts and joined up. I have a Super Streak I've done some work on. I started by getting both barrels so I could swap out for different usage. I had custom shrouds made and then contacted fellow forum member LongIslandArcher (Wai) to assist me in converting it to gas RAM. Wai acquired the RAM for me, modified my piston, tophat and guide as well as the end cap to accomodate the new piston. VERY smooth and a great improvement in my opinion. So far I've only seen about 2fpe increase over the massive spring but it's so much smoother. It's still hitting 20+fpe with CPUM and Beeman Kodiak Extra Heavys. I haven't had a chance to put over 100 rounds through it but I suspect that after the new seal wears in a bit, power may increase a bit. But, it is truely a hunter and is far smoother operating. A lot quieter too.
So, I would suggest sending a pm to Wai if you are interested. I'm sure he can help you out with the conversion.

Currently, I am unable to find anyone airgun shop that will sell the gas rams directly to me, so any conversions will be on hold until I find one.  I am looking into getting Crosman to authorize me to work on their rifles so I can get parts directly from them.  The only service centers in NY are 5 hours away.  The closest one is actually about 3 hours away in Pennsylvania.

WOW! Thanks for all of the input and the warm welcome. I should have the adjustable mount tomorrow and will run at least 1,000 rounds through the gun before sending off to tune. I figure I can put a tin a night through it and ship it next week for either a spring tune or a gas ram conversion. As soon as everything is done I'll post the results. I'm getting a shooting chrony next to really nail down the science of ballistics and I plan to plot pellet trajectory along with fpe at point of impact to determine my maximum range of kill. When I finally get around to hunting I'll post pics and results of that too. I've got several bobcats living near my home and I've even seen one or two that are bold enough to cross busy roadways in broad daylight. Of course, rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional bird are game too. Thanks again for the warm welcome and I appreciate all of the input so far. If u like the super streak and want to hunt with no issues of spring fatiuge do to leaving it cocked I would do a .22 in the npss ur best bet or if u want the beat down power then go trail xl I'm sure others will chime in here

come from the same factory..And walthers are Hatsan M125

Yeah, but how many fpe could I expect from an English gas ram?  Aren't they only limited to 12 fpe over there?
