if my numbers are right, this is number 43 for nutters... and mabey 5, Eurasion doves... the dove came in to my feeder... and met a H/N FTT 14.66 grain out of the CFX royal... about 14.5 FPE.  it was in the sink, getting ready to be breasted out and my wife starts yelling about a squirrel in the yard.

the nutter, was in my yard, heading to the pecan tree... i figured i would get a jump on it.  i grab the CFX royal, (i worry she's getting lonely) and 3-4 FTT pellets.  the CFX shoots them perfectly, at 20 yds.  the distance was about 15 yds... ground level.. i'm taking careful aim... resting off the side of the house... but all i can see is tail... so i make a kissing noise... trying to get a bit of attention... the nutter hops up on the fence, and looks at me with one eye... FTT away... solid impact, but a bit back (neck shot).  the nutter falls and begins death dance... runs all over the place, but i knwe the pellet did its job.  it jumps into a bush, at the base of the pecan tree, and i quickly reload... thinking mabey my shot was bad... and it will need a followup.  after reloading.  i take a step closer, and all i can see is a curly bushy tail.... doing the nutter specific tail twitch... you have all seen it... so i settle in behind the glass, purely offhand... take careful aim at the tail... and follow it down.... VOILA there's the eye, poking through a hole in the Vegitation.  i send the FTT to do its dirty work... and i see the nutter fall, and begin its death dance.... at this point i'm purely disapointed at myself.. for putting a nutter through this.  as i get to the base of the tree... i see my shots, were indeed true.... two nutters... two shots... my day just got a whole lot better, becauset he fur on these, looks pristine, no pellet holes.  and both females... big chunky girls too...

after skinning the nutters, i found YET ANOTHER darn pellet... this one is a .177 caliber destroyer... see my post about injured nutters for hte pictures.

You CFX Royal is a beauty!!  I 'm jealous   I seem to have run out of squirrels already and it's so early in the season!  Well that's what happens when you shoot 120 squirrels in your backyard.  It takes a while for them to build up their #'s, even though I never bothered them every Spring and summer (in the off-season).  They only seem to have had like 1 litter from 1 pair of adult squirrels this summer.  I shot the 3-4 young ones already and the male/female older parants, and now not 1 sighting in 4 days.  The well always runs dry sometime!

Very nice Big Block. Can't believe how many you're finding with pellets in 'em though. Actually... scratch that. After going 0 for 2 in my own hunt, I do believe it.

most of the shots i've seen, would be kill shots, if the gun had 2-3 more FPE...   like that shoulder shot.. with the destroyer... i can't imagine, with any even 500+ fps gun at 20 yds, that should still be a reasonably deadly shot...

oh well.... i'm hoping i get to keep punching nutters.... there's SOOOOOOO many in my housing area...i can drive just around the block, and count 40+ in a 5 minute period... and it doesn't appear as my 40+ i've killed... are impacting thier numbers at all....
