NEED HELP- Diana 48 cocking rod adjustment

Well, i had to replace the original due to a rookie trying to close the lever without releasing the safety(bear trap). Anyway, I installed a new cocking rod. The problem is I do not know how to adjust it, when cocked there is no tension on the cocking lever to keep it from just opening. I did not have that problem before so i know it has something to do with the cocking rod.
Does anyone know how to adjust it. My son was using it the other day and when he was about to take a shot. hehehe -- it opened up on him.
He just gave me that look, so I need to fix it.
The day I gave him that rifle he shot it until he had the sights set just right then, it broke on him .LOL
I made him wait a few months before I bought the new rod. hehehehe

The previous post is correct. But here is a little more detail.
The threaded rod is covered with a flexible plastic tube. Take the circlip off the pin at the rear of the rod. Pull the pin.
Then with two wrenches [with mine I used a 5/16" and a 9 mm] loosen the jamb nut from the square end that the pin went through.
Unscrew the square end 1/2 turn at a time. After each adjustment put the square end back in the cocking arm and insert the pin. Don't worry about the jamb nut or the circlip at this point.
Check for resistance in closing the arm. If necessary, keep adjusting 1/2 turn out until the arm meets resistance about 2" from fully closed.
When you have it right, tighten the jamb net up against the square end. Also replace the circlip.
It is important to use properly fitting wrenches. Don't use pliers etc. they will just mess up the nut and look like heck. As I mentioned earlier, a 5/16" and a 9 mm worked perfectly on mine.
