No Alex the grease is pretty slick, an I have seen it from thick(like my 2 tub's) to rather thin to where it could flow/pour out of tub(just ask Gary LOL), you can get plumber's silicone at about any major store or you can go up a step an get what is called "diver's" silicone(not sure where to find it), it will come in a 1oz. little plastic container an for that it will run you around $7, now remember that you only want a VERY light coating, to much an it will clog up your pump such as the small intake area. A small amount will do you just fine, I have not made a dent in my supply in over a year of use an at least 3 HPA AG take down's an 1 pump build.
I hadn't heard about any pumps having problems using the oil...obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be using it on my pump. Thanks for the warning. I always wondered if there could be a chance of Dieseling ...maybe its time to strip it down, flush it out, and silicone up!
There is a grease made for O-rings/seals etc....its called RUBBER GREASE..comes in a Caster or Lanolin base...
