New to me Smith & Wesson Air Rifle

     Hello all .
 
  Newby here needing advice . Bought a nice looking .22 Pellet Rifle (S&W) that works occasionaly but usualy makes a sound (when pumping) you should only hear in the bathroom. Is there an easy inexpensive fix or do I need to send it to a Repair shop .
  I live in West Virginia and dont know of any where close to take it . Also is this a Rifle worth putting any cash into repairs . I like the looks and feel of it and did shoot 2 bullseyes (at 10 ft. or so) the 2 times I actually got it to shoot.

Haven't had the pleasure of owning a Smith & Wesson air rifle, so I don't know exactly how they work, but I do own several pumpers from other makers. It kinda sounds like dried out seals. One thing you might try is a little 30wt NON-DETERGENT motor oil. A couple of drops on the seal at the end of the pump piston. Pull the pump handle up all the way and look at the piston in the slot. Try to get the oil as close to the seal as you can. Pump it to get the oil spread around the on the seal.
The S&W airguns have good reputations. It's too bad S&W got out of the airgun business. I had the chance to buy one like yours once but missed out. There is (was?) fella on this forum who has (had?) a S&W .22 air rifle. He shot it in the multi-pump target competitions.

Tried the 30 weight . Didnt seem to do any good . Pulled the cocking lever open and oiled around trigger mechanism , pumped it up while forgetting to close cocking lever and it worked . Wont pump up with cocking lever closed is this the way it is supposed to work ?

  Also took pics but dont know how to get them here ?

Well, like I said, I don't have one to know for sure. Some air rifles need to be cocked before you can pump them. I have an old Crosman that's like that. It makes serious "bathroom" sounds if I pump it without cocking it first. If it works with the lever open then go for it.

Well I guess this one is like your old Crossman . Works fine open or closed as long as you have it cocked before pumping .
  I have pumped it up to 15 times for one shot , Though 18 -20 is the max on a newer gun . Am I flirting with disaster by putting too much pressure on older parts ?     Like my Arms !!!!
  Messed up my 1 Week Record of 100% Bulls , course that was on the only 2 times I got it to shoot . Wish Squirrel Season was in !

Whew, 15 times seems like work, and I love pumpers! I guess I'm used to 4 to 6 in my Crosman and Benji.
