Are HW underlevers designed with some droop as well?

With a Leapers 3-9x32ao and leapers one piece medium mount I was able to shoot at 3/4 and inch below point of  aim at 8 yards.  scope still had adjustment was close to center of mechanical center on turrets.(double checked that scope/mount combo again today it also was near end of its travel)

I went to a BKL one piece high mount and a Leapers 3-12x40ao

With scope at end of up adjustment I am -.955 from point of aim POA
with scope mechanically centered I am -2.88
Scope full down I am -4.176

all at 8 yards all I have in basement.

Is this normal for a HW underlever I thought they were supposed to not have "droop"

Not familiar with HW97K barrel angles but:

You should be hitting about an 1 inch low at 8 yards and you are. You have no adjustment left but you are probably correctly zeroed in for about 25 yards. A .02 shim at the rear of the scope should get you back near optical center. Your scope can then be zeroed with plenty of adjustment remaining.

Assuming that you have a perfectly straight barrel, and your scope is to be optically centered, you have to shim, bed, or machine the mounts. Otherwise your barrel would have to be bent slightly up. The higher the mounts, the greater the angle required.

From the measurements that you gave, I would say the your barrel is NOT drooping.

I am out of adjustment and I would not want scope to live at the end of its adjustment.

Whats the deal a scope only rifle with an angled barrel???  Seems dumb

so either drooped rings, shims, lower rings, adjustable?

Hmmm, used gun? Could have had some barrel/underlever-slapping issues?

My 77 and 97 both shoot dead-nuts at 15 to 50 yards with slight holdover starting at 40 yards, RWS Superdomes, .177 cal. Last chrony was 878 fps avg. on the 97. Have never heard of the HW 77s or 97s having bent barrels and certainly no drooper from factory stuff like RWS???

How high is your scope? You said "one piece high mount". That should put the scope about 2 inches high. With that mount, hitting only .405 inches low at 8 yards would require that the pellet be on a steep upward trajectory. What scope height did you use in Chairgun?

You might have some "droop". Try zeroing at a closer distance, maybe 20 or 25 yards. That can take care of some of it. Shim/bed the mount to get it where you want. Even with a perfectly straight barrel, you still need to shim the scope in order to keep the scope optically centered. If you like BKL mounts, you could use this:

I am a Weihrauch dealer and tuner.
I don't know how many I have sold in both 4.5mm and 5.0mm, but I would guess more than 10 recently.
I currently have 4 in stock and two HW77s.
I have not seen any of these, and the many others that I have tuned, with barrel droop.

They are remarkably accurate.

This is a comment from an owner of a rifle I shipped yesterday.

I finally bit the bullet and bought what I've always wanted, a HW97K.
What a awesome air rifle.
Its all that I've read about and more.
Its accuracy is absolutely ridiculous.
If I take more than 3 shots at a target at 30m, I can't see where I'm hitting.
One hole groups are almost easy.
I chronied it at 866fps with 8.44gr 4.52mm JSB pellets.
Its been tuned by Vince and he reckons its one of the better ones around.
I can't imagine a springer being any better but I'm sure they exist.
I am extremely happy with mine.

The rifle is fitted with my internal sound moderator, my very low pre-load mainspring and piston liner.
It is quiet, has absolutely no twang and is indecently accurate.

My client is a guide at one of our many game parks.

I have Beeman (Sportsmatch) 1 pc mount on mine that I have never lapped, shimmed or otherwise. Scope out of the box required about 12 clicks of windage and about 9 clicks of elevation for zero POI at 20 yards, haven't touched scope more than 1 or 2 clicks over 3k rounds +.

I have even shot the 97K with loose stock screws (inadvertently) and didn't realize it till I felt a little stock rattle during cocking. She was still plowing e'm into the 10 ring. 878 fps avg w/ Superdomes.

One of the finest spring guns made IMO and no barrel droop.

I guess I'd have looked first at the 2 scope/mount combos you used Tom.  The gun shot well with combo A,  and then combo B gave you problems.   Perhaps you could turn the BKL mount around 180 degrees, and re-try it.  It may well not be the same problem when you do a total re-mount.  Nonetheless, I first would suspect the mount, in this case, based on your comparison, rather than the gun.

tried different mounts and scopes ....

so I am sure its a bad barrel angle or dovetails machined off

found one scope with alot of travel....to get a 30 yard zero it is at its end of travel

hopefully I can get it swapped out for a different rifle a scope only rifle should not have an angled barrel.  Sent pictures of the target to the dealer to look at 

If I wanted drooper mounts I would have got another $200 RWS not a $700 HW
