My XL1500 Tune is Complete

Hey Folks,
Just came in from getting my XL1500 put back together
. Piston and seal install went well, got it installed with no cut or nicks that I could see. Reassembled her, blue loctite where needed.
I am still having a little issue with my locking lug (crosman calls it an Alive Jam). My barrel never locked up real tight, i could push the barrel to break it fairly easy. I didnt have to bump it to break it open. I tried to tweak it a bit by filing the rear of the notch to give it a little more forward travel toward the locking pin. I made a thin spacer for between the spring and lug ( i thought it may put more force on the lug??). I also tried to adjust the angle of the lug so it went a little further under the pin. It is holding a little better, but I think a replacement may be needed in the near future.
Since Crosman isnt selling XL parts yet, will a lug from a regular trail NP or the blue streak work if needed?
When I got it all together, I just couldnt resist putting a few rounds through it
. I know I should have waited, but I couldnt. I put 10 JSB Heavies through it.
The first two detonated and a good bit of smoke was visible. Shots three through seven just smoked. Shots eight through ten just had light smoke and a light haze in the bore, I could see through the bore, so there was definately not much haze. Hopefully all is good and it wont smoke too long.
How many rounds should a new seal need before accuracy/chrony testing would be worth the time?
Overall my first tune went well. I was definately nervous at first but then it became fun. Getting the seal in was a little nerve wracking along with the lockup issues, but other than that, Im glad I did it.
Only time will tell if I made an improvement.
I want to thank all of you who answered my threads, PM's, and countless questions in the chat room. Without you all I would have never even attempted this. Youre not off the hook yet though because I still have tons to learn
Thanks Again!

Thanks Alan,
I was hoping to get the scope on and play with it tomorrow night but I just found out I wont be home
Guess I'll have to do it Thursday. I cant wait to see if my effort helped it or hurt it.

Always seems there's plenty of down time to shoot when you're waiting for parts, but as soon as everything is up and running, the free time seems to evaporate! Glad you made it unscathed. Time to order some misc. parts so you can get some range time in!
