Career II 707 coming out of storage...
«

Hello all,
I have an old Career II 707 in .22 that has not been fired in approx 5 years. Life got in the way.
Anyway, it has been stored in a gun cabinet with about 3/4 charge.
Anything I should be aware of if I pull it out and dust it off for a shoot?
Things that may have gotten brittle and made it dangerous? Thought about sending it off to Alan Zasadny for a tuner...if he is still on the map.
Thanks for any and all help.

If it's still holding a charge, and was lubed properly when put away, a few test shots without pellets will let you know if the pneumatic works are still ok. Assuming it was in clean, stable environment all this time?
Otherwise, if none of the above, a 1/2 charge of air and then look/listen for leaks?

I`m no expert but I wouldn`t hesitate to fill it up & shoot it.The longest mine ever sit in one place was only a couple months. I would still fill it up & shoot it.How else are you gonna know if a o-ring has gone bad. Here`s a few pics. of my Careers the black one is in .25 & the other with the singe air tuge is .22 I think mine are both Career III 707.

A drop of mineral oil in the filler, as per the shop I bought it from...
It has held 3/4 charge all this time.
The environment was basically a gun safe with a golden rod and then into a sentry lock cabinet in the garage. Temps go up and down in the garage but nothing too extreme, I live in a very mild climate.
The gun has been fired very little, maybe 2-300 times, if that, and never exposed to the elements.
Trekkerx, nice shooters... I am jealous. Thanks for the pics...

Mine have been shoot alot but the .22 never shot good at until I got a Lothar Walther barrel & put on it.Now its dead on.I kinda feel sorry for any critter that gets in the cross hairs with it cause theres a 32 grn. going straight to the fuse box!

I had Will Piatt do my .22 LW barrel & he worked on the trigger replaced all the o-rings & probably some other stuff to it but it is now a deadly weapon.I don`t know who exactly built the .25 but it says .20 on the side. The guy I bought it from said that it was built from half dozen 707`s & he used all the best parts. It is also a deadly weapon.I mean you can not miss with either one of them, they are the most powerful AR`s I have & just as accurate as anything else I own.

Allen Z. Is most certainly still on the map. His address and contact info have changed but he is the best. For a korean gun you may want to send it to Will. Will does great work on the Korean guns and you might save a few pennies over sending it to Allen

Looks like a Carbine with a long forestock, Very Nice.
If you decide to send her to a Tuner, go for Will Piatt, he does a great Lob on triggers

I'm still Kicking my backside I didn't grab that 9mm 707 when I had the chance,,but the .25 Sumatra makes me not regret it as much as she's a Honey of a shooter.

I eyeballed the 9mm before I bought this .22, but the desire for a lever repeater was too great.

Bought it around '97 from a shop owner in Los Angeles. I know it was not brand new but it did not have a scratch on it. Guys name was Burroughs, I think. So, it looks custom built? I thought some carbines came with the longer fore grip...I am far from an expert.

Yes, John. It has been a while... Wish I could remember all he told me about it. Very good guy.
Just went out back and popped off a few rounds...smooth as a baby's arse.
