My Other German Gun..R9

I have a .177 Beeman R9 and it has had an interesting history. I got a good deal on it a few years ago. It a Huntington beach model R9. I put a Vortek kit into it, and the shot cycle felt like magic! but had some problems with losing fps over time, it was dropping below 10 fpe. I put the original spring back in but not too much better and verrry twangy. I then replaced the breech seal and piston seal and polished the internals and gave it a lube tune. A bit of twang, now it's smooth.
It averages 858 with CPHP 7.9gr and only a 12 fps spread over 10 shots, for about 12.96 FPE. With it's favorite pellet, the 8.4gr JSB exact, it averages 834 with a spread of only 8 fps over 10 shots, for about a bit over 13 FPE.
Rested from a rickety bench setup, with my hand under the rifle on the bag, it can put 8 shots into 3\8 of an inch at 12 yards. It can also put 6 into 7\8 inch at 25 yards seated with my elbow on my knee, no other rest.
It is my go to small game hunting air rifle!

Nice gun and nice shooting.....this is one fun sport.....targets are great....but Mr. Wabbitt makes it a more tasty adventure. Here is my Diana 34 177 t05 to compare with, with a John in PA tune/PG2, Vortek Accuracy Tamer, CCC, piston buttons etc etc just completed last week.

This is what I patterned last weekend when I got it back from John.

Most accurate pellet is the CPL 7.9...but I use tinned CPHP...unwashed, unweighed, unmeasured...I had John detune it with the PG2 from 910 to 840 and to cut a number of rungs off the spring and adjust the tophat to make a smooth short cycle gun.
Good luck with your beautiful gun. Den

Your d34 is really beautiful in the picture you attached. And nice shooting. tell me more about your build. what is an 'accuracy tamer'. My R9, since its all tuned up, I am going to take it out to 50 yards today to see what it can do
I hope my 7\8 group doesn't become 7" !
..thanks

This t05 2007 8 land 177 34 began as an MPC. John in PA has done the 9 yards of tuning from buttoning the piston, lube, deburr, chop rechoke and target crown, pg2 yada yada.
The unique MB is an historical piece.......Vortek I believe stopped production 10 years ago.....we located 2 of these one is on my 34 and one is on my 48....they are harmonic modifiers.....they are nothing more than a weight adjustment for the tip of the barrel where you can alter the weight location.....what you'll find is all guns flip a little at commencement of shot....the flipping effect can be modified to reduce motion or enhance 'target happy' motion by moving an added weight at the tip. Other manufacturers have made these in the past...I believe Quackenbush and one other. I believe the history on this model was that Tom Gore was asked by BATF to discontinue production because of what it might become or something like that. I really don't know....just know that it tightens an already tight group.
Look on pyramyd blog site....he has written about this MB in detail
