Got the mount in and scope on the Diana 48

Got the mount in today stuck the scope on and sighted it in. Tack driver in the basement at 20ft it is the 22cal for those that did not see the other post. Raining here all day so 20ft is about all I could get can cover 5 shots with a dime most of the time. What can I expect at 20 to thirty yards sighted in at this range. Shooting a gamo 15.89 grain pellet all I had in the 22cal. Am I going to have a lot of drop at 30 yards. Thanks

You will have to re-zero at a range you expect to be using most.  25 yards is a zero point that's popular. Here's a Pyramid Air series of vids that should help you out.  Happy Viewing, and Best of Luck to You!

Pellet drop? From a 48? In only 30 yards? Ha Ha Ha. Brother that's a killing machine, not a pea shooter. You'll see, and you'll be grinning. But I can't even imagine those pellets being the ones your gun ends up shooting the best.

AMB is right....no drop from the 48 22 in 30 yds....

Next you need to target at 20 yds trying a variety of pellets to see which 5 shot group is tightest....then 30 yds...you got a great gun for hunting....I like the 18 grain crowmags for my guns best accuracy at 22 yds.

If you are happy with Crow Mags, you'll be amazed if you try a quality dome pellet.

I have gone through a wide selection of quality pellets, most domes.....my funny gun likes crow mags (tightest pattern at this distance)...go figure? I'm sure at 30 plus the open concave face would not be the most accurate and would probably be a dome....but at 22 yds...the target doesn't lie.... I'm happy....as it's my rabbit/ground squirrel machine.....

Thanks for the info guys. Rain changed to snow this afternoon so it is indoor shooting only right now. Have killed rabbits with the 177 at thirty yards or better years ago. Just getting back into the air gun thing. The 22 is all new to me.

Escondido1  Yeah, Buddy, they're definitely killer at >25 yards.  I use them in .177.  Dang they got pricey tho. I've probably got more than I'll ever use in the field.

The point of impact at 30yds with your 48 .22 will probably be at least 4" heigher than at 20ft you are shooting at now.  It won't level off until about 35-40yds and start dropping from there.

My 48 likes the 14.3 CP best out of all the ones I tried   That's the 1 pellet that gets the hightest velocity (and FPE @ 800fps) and is about equal to 3-4 other pellets in accuracy at 30yds.  But the others have a lower muzzle velocity and do not give me as much energy, so I don't use them as much.  The Crow Mag is great up to 25yds from both my 350 .22 and 48 .22 and is a very lethal pellet even when going for chest/vitals shots on smaller critters (squirrel/rabbit).  Domed pellets are the most accurate >20yds.

With a 48, you haven't even scratched the potential for 30-40-50 yards. If you can manage the recoil and hold  all the way thru your shots (till target drops or is hit), you can shoot sub-1" all day waaay out there.

YEEEES SIR! I have never shot my 52(.177) at less then 25y. The 48-52 really likes to be streached out. When it stops snowing there (brrrr) set a soda can out at 50y, you'll get board LOL. Then try 70y, a bit harder but very do-able...cheers Bart

Hey the sun came out today. Got out and got it zeroed in at 20yards inch group or less at 20 yards was cold out so did not shoot a lot. I am impressed. Had to come down almost 2" from the 20ft mark I had it sighted in at.
