I have purchased 2 air rifles recently thru very odd coincidental occurrences.

The simple one was a for sale listing in Texas, in a town about 5 miles from where I was going to visit
my daughter and family recently.
I was able to connect with the seller to purchase face to face, eliminating sales tax and selling fees........sweet!

The second was considerably more involved....

A rifle I wanted was listed for sale with pickup only.....seller would not ship.
It was located at the other end of the country.........
But.............
I have a friend in a lawnmower forum who lives in the same state......
Upon inquiry, I found that he lives about 2 miles from the seller !!
But...........
The seller stopped communicating with me..........
Dead deal??
Nope.
The seller's name looked like a business name.
A web search eventually turned up a listing for stuff on CL....
I was able to contact him thru the CL ad and negotiate with him on a cash, face to face sale on the rifle with my lawnmower buddy....
Saved me tax and selling fees........
My buddy purchased (I sent him a check) and shipped using the label I sent.
It is en route to me at this time....
