Power Adjuster

I'm looking for a power adjuster for my 2240 and was wondering what models are compatible. I see one advertised for the Challenger but it says it will also fit the Benji Disco. Will this also fit the 2240?

  I like the power adjuster in blued steel from Charles Mellon Airgun Parts.  It has plenty of adjustment with a large diameter spring guide screw and looks like it belongs on a 2240 to me. You can use a longer power spring if you want which can be swapped without disassembly out the back if you want to experiment with different springs.

One thing to consider is the ability to lock the adjuster.

The Fenton has a lock ring, and it appears that the one for the Challenger Gen 1 has one too, but it’s not exactly a lock ring but a set screw to lock the adjuster vertically, similar to my Don Cothran power adjusters.

Worth mentioning, the Don PA has a very sensible  brass locking set screw so as not to harm the threaded adjuster 👍

+1 on the MellonAir power adjustor. Works great and very reasonable price/shipping. If you go there, the 10" barrel is also a great upgrade.

These are very nicely-machined parts but I told them to wrap each part individually with paper or bubble wrap (they’re packed individually but no cushion to speak of) the next time around.

Note: Shipping was $20 for the bunch.

How much tension is on the adjustment screw? Any issues with it backing out after shooting?

  I never had any problems with the screw backing out.  I take the screw to Ace Hardware spring drawers and try to find different lengths and strength springs that just fit over the smooth guide section of the screw and be no larger than the OD of the threaded section. When you remove the screw the spring will slide right out of the adjuster for an easy swap. Here is a picture of the screw/guide out of the gun.  I find a spring that allows the screw to be set about flush with the back of the end plug and shoot around 550fps with a Mountain Air Gun power valve and ice maker tubing port. Right now this one shoots 565fps and allows for about 20 good shots with Crosman Hollow Points at about 70 degrees with a 10" barrel. Any faster settings start to waste gas with the short barrel. A 20" barrel on my 2260 with this valve and adjuster shot 675fps.

You'll want to be careful with the length of the rear breech screw. If it's too long it will bind the adjuster screw and spring.

I have used the 2300 adjuster and the Mellon adjuster.

I prefer (and have several) the SSG device (made with the Mellon as its end cap).   This will increase shot count substantially.   The SSG is discussed at great length here on GTA.
