A (CHROME?) PLATED HW25 ???

I picked up this little cutie over the weekend. It's been plated. I believe that it's chrome plating rather than nickel because in the very few tiny areas where the plating is absent, it appears as though I could get a finger nail under it and flake off a little more. If I'm not mistaken, nickle will wear off rather than flaking and there's an underplating of copper or something similar under nickel on steel. There is no evidence of any sort of underplating.
I keep forgetting to look up the serial number to try and get a handle on its age. It's definitely an early model, but I have no idea how early.
anyway, I'm hoping that someone can tell me if Weihrauch ever offered chrome plating on their guns, or if its more likely that this was done after the rifle left the factory.

Not sure about the finish, but that is a sweet looking little Weihrauch. From a collectors standpoint, I would hold on to it. You hardly see them (HW25) anymore. About the closest thing I have to it is one of the last runs of the German built Diana 240’s,…which is far from a Weihrauch. Hope it shoots as good as it looks.
