HW50s VS HW95n

Hey guys, I'm kinda on the fence between an HW50,s in .22 or an HW95n in .177. I have an HW95 luxus in .22 and a couple HW30's in .177. Most of my shooting is Back yard range, cutting cans and little plastic army dudes out to 40 yards or so. so, my question is with the HW50 Hunter at AOA in .22, will it provide enough umph to shoot fairly flat out to 40 yards. I have an R-9 with a vortek 12FT LB kit in .177 that absolutely love, but AOA not having a 50 s in .177 and the price of the hunter being 649.00 maybe I should just pop for the HW95N, in .177 tune it and have fun. anyone using an HW50 in .22 for this kind of shooting? if so what are your thoughts.

I'm loving my HW50 in .22!

It's untuned, and makes 12-13 fpe with Meisterkugeln, Field Target Tropies, etc  -  with a bore & stroke designed for that output.  Firing cycle is excellent, accuracy is stellar, everything is just great. 

I do feel obligated to mention the cocking effort, due to there being some controversy about it....
It is a modest step up from a 30 and not too much lighter than a 95, basically because of barrel length.  Which is to say that it's still easy to cock.  Probably not as easy as a 95 that's been sprung down to 12 fpe, but not too different either.

I love my 95s, but at 12 fpe I'd prefer a 50.  Super handy size/length, at a very shooter friendly weight.

I use an HW50 in both 177 and 20 at ranges from 25 to 50 yards. In the 20, I use JSBs 13.73s, exclusively, and have had no issues dealing with hold over. Just a matter of learning where to hold.

The difference between the 50 and 95 is more a matter of the gun dimensions. The 95 is a noticeably larger gun. The 50 still has a 30s feel to it, kind of an adult 30.

The 22 fifty at 12-13 fpe is a very low 600 fps rifle with regular pellets. 12 fpe in 177 is 800fps with regular pellets.

A very nice 22 Hw50 is the only HW I've ever sold because it was too loopy for my tastes. I love my 800 fps 177 Hw50 but still prefer my 700 fps Hw30s.

If you already have a 12fpe R9 what are you gaining by going to the 50? Also keep in mind because of the articulated cocking arm a full power 50 is just about as hard to cock as a full power 95.

The 50 is a great sized gun I understand wanting one bo matter what you have already, just spend a minute or two on chairgun and see if you can live with the 22s trajectory.

Also fwiw I've had better luck with 177 hw barrels than 22.

I am a bit more critical towards the 50...

It is a nice airgun, but... I think the powerplant is too powerful for the 50 and gives some harsh recoil. Also the cocking is too heavy for the short barrel.

So if you want to make a serious choice between the 50 and the 95, I would say hands down the 95 that wins.

I can safely say now the 30 is way more nice compared with the 50 and if you need more power than the 30, ship the 50 and go for the 95 accordingly.

First off thank you all for the replies. I did per Bayman’s recommendation visit chairgun and study the trajectory. It seems it’s almost the same as my HW35E in .22 which although I love the rifle, I wish I had bought it in .177. That said I was shooting a friends HW35E in .177 just yesterday and have to say, I liked it better than mine in .22 so I have decided if I Order an HW50 it will be in .177 so I guess now it’s two guns. I’ll get myself an HW95N from AOA in .177 and an HW50’s from Krales also .177. If they buzz and snarl, I’ll just have someone tune em up.

I've always wanted an HW35e stainless in .177 for myself but I am not really a springer guy; I'm a bling guy, so I like them bright 🤗

Had an HW77 with the green laminate stock that I sold to a fellow airgunner here in Abq. for $200.

Careful ordering from Krale or overseas nowadays 'cuz you'd be charged exorbitant fees.

There was a recent thread about a Krale order that gave the buyer a headache in the Other Forum.

I got a friend of mine a .20 HW50 and installed a Vortek kit in it. Good power and smooth shot cycle. It did have a slight kick for a while but did settle down through the break in period. Shot the Baracuda domes the best.

Inquired with Krale about a .20 HW50 and they said about 8-10 months wait for special order.

 Not sure how many want one or if it matters, but I can imagine a group buy.  No experience with them though, so other who have could better predict a reality.

The thread that I attached here was an order from Krale, although it was indeed a Chinese AG.

As for European guns, I have no idea if the tariff system  would be the same.

I would see if AOA could get them, that's how a bunch of us here got them brought into the U.S. to begin with! I also got the very 1st HW50 in .20cal shipped from AOA according to sources here! That was from the first group buy on them!
