Stomping out Vortex Gas Springs

As Hatsan's Vortex Gas Springs have proven to be reliably un-reliable.
There has to be a better unit.

I have converted Type 3 Vortex guns (Striker) to Crosman NP nits.........Simple
I have installed NP-2 (IIRC) to replace Type 1-B Vortex in Mod 95's... not quite as simple, but working to remedy that.
Hatsan lists a Type 1 AND a Type 1-B. This is what they list for the Mod 95. However, I have several Vortex ubits
from Mod. 95 rifles, but they are ALL marked Type 1......
Anyone know the differences??

I would like to do this in replacing the Type 2........ but I need an accurate stroke length for that spring.
The body of the Type 2 is about 1/8" longer than that of the Crosman spring, but the shaft is maybe 3/8" longer.
I am not sure if there is adequate stroke available in the Crosman to work......
Anyone know the stroke of the Type 2??

The files have been generated for the ram adapter for the Model 25.
I hope for the file for the 125/135 conversion to follow soon.

Once I have those I will order prototypes and see what happens.......

 The Np2 unit in a 95 sounds interesting. I have a Crosman Vantage NP and it's got a really neat shot cycle.
I would really enjoy my 95 springer being that schmoove.

I REALLY wish I could type..or at least proof read what I had typed.....
NOT model 25.......but rather the Mod 95.......NPXL conversion plug has been designed.

It will still require some secondary operations.......but I think I can handle it.
I may need a special collet for the lathe.....

Regardless I hope whatever you develop works as the Vortex air springs seems to have a limited life unless you WANT to rebuild them every year or two.

I'll stick to coil springs as I'm done with false marketing shisel about the benefits of gas/air springs :-p

My memory may be fuzzy on that. I have examples of all the Crosman rams, so I will determine which one is required.
Important factor is that I can now have the adapter plug 3D printed.
I will have to machine the pocket into which the ram will seat....

I have a Mod. 135 cadaver en route (thanks Deadrise Skiff) to test the design once the adapter plug is proven.
As with all the stuff I market, profit is not the primary objective (though it helps...)
I strive to improve on designs where improvement is needed.
I also like to test my ingenuity.
As a purchasing manager for a machinery manufacturer, I would often make re-design suggestions to
engineering, to improve function, buildability or cost.
I was usually back-handed for my efforts.
It is good to get it right every now and then......

Yup.
Either NP1 or NP2 should work.
I suspect that the larger shaft diameter of the NP2 will translate to higher power...

I an trying to adapt the NPXL into the 125/135, but it is gonna be close.

Once I get the print files for the 125 adapter I will order prototypes.
If I had any gumption I would learn to use my own 3D printer.....

In order to succeed in these conversions, it may be necessary to install the
Crosman units with the rod facing aft.
I know that some models from other manufacturers use this orientation.

Would this pose any problems in the Hatsan rifles??

Hatsan uses the same Type 2 Vortex ram for both....I would have to think that this will work in that one also...
I could be wrong........
