The Lone(ly) Crosman 362 stock screw

Who here, if any, have found that the one stock screw to be insufficient to hold the barrel assembly?
I did a search, and haven't found any threads or mentions of modding the gun to have another secure point for the stock, so the number who do has got to be low. I feel like something else needs to be done, but if none of y'all after hundreds and thousands of pellets through the rifle haven't found it to be an issue, I guess I should just put myself at ease

No worries, Brawny, my two are fine, as are thousands of 140s, and 1400s, and Benjamins, and Sheridans. Put it out of your head and go have fun shooting your airguns.

I have a 362 and a 3622 as well as a bunch of 1400’s.  The single stock retaining screw is not an issue.  Like the 2100 you have to hold the gun as Crosman intended for pumping.  If you hold the gun by the pistol grip while pumping you can feel some flex.

Thanks guys, I figured as much. Unfortunately my old eyes necessitated a scope so I end up using the pistol grip. I do feel a flex and my feeble mind can imagine a mod that runs a bolt behind the trigger housing up to the hammer spring cup. My mind also comes up with a lot of hose clamp and baling wire ideas, but I don't want to just totally destroy the resale value.

I have scopes on mine and just hold the scope over the mounting ring when pumping.

I guess I should mention that I use the steel breech.

Yeah you do notice some flex but it's a pretty good screw and the rear of the stock gives it contact on 3 sides at least. I always hold it by the pistol grip on this model when pumping and there's no adverse effects.

I could do that, my rings are suspect though. It's whatever cheap set came with the CVLife 4x32 shorty. I just finished putting on a Mellonair power adjuster and it gives me more purchase without flexing the stock.

You did a really nice job fitting in that Mellon spring adjuster, and it looks really nice too ! I have one and considered it but was afraid to remove that much material from the back of the stock.

As far as stock flex goes, I have two of these 362's and never noticed any movement on mine.

Thanks, I had to crank the screw about as far as I could to get it to dump all the air. I might get in there to lighten up the valve spring, or I might leave well enough alone.
