For your viewing pleasure (I hope ), here's my last job, a vintage Crosman model 70 that I'm restoring. I checkered a similar pattern to the one on the pre-'64 ''real'' Winchester, in 18 LPI. The two last pics shows it with the walnut stain:

Well I refinished the entire stock on the 70. Before applying the stain I gave the stock 5 coats of Watco Danish oil, then two coats of stain, then two other Danish oil coats to seal it.
