I wonder if one can set up an alert for Baikal IZH-46M parts on ebay?  Or a pistol missing other than the parts you need, being sold cheap.

Else this is a huge bummer.

I was thinking the same thing. Eight years ago, I used to go to EAA Corp, who was the importer of my 46M. They had many (but not all) parts for the 46M. I looked them up this evening for Baikal parts, but nothing comes up on their site.

Again, eight years ago, I had eBay connections with a seller in Belarus and another in the Ukraine that I bought Baikal parts from, but obviously, it's dicey to even comm with them these days, and, I've forgotten their names for contact. Even if I could recall them, given these times, I'd prefer not to. No need to put myself on the radar.

One of the things I remember distinctly from back then was that the guy in Belarus complained a lot about how Baikal was "cheapening" their product. Just one for example, the IZH MP61, which originally had a steel breech, and then went to plastic.

Frank - Who was the importer of your 46M? It should say on the left side of the gun. Witness my 46M below:



Left click to zoom and you can see EAA as the importer. Also note the serial number. The first two numbers (in this case 05...  - 2005) are the year of manufacture.
Again, who imported your 46M, an does the serial number as described above match the year that you bought it?

Reason I ask is that perhaps Baikal used a lesser grade steel on your part #51.

Just some random investigative thoughts on my part.

Great lead. I had forgotten that Krale was still selling them, albeit (and most probably) the newest versions, so caveat emptor IMO. Krale is a great dealer, and I have had nothing but good experience with them to the point of obtaining custom stocks for my Weihrauch collection.

Before purchasing a 46M from Krale, I would ask the date of manufacture, or the serial numbers available. As I said, Krale is great at communicating. Just go through their email portal.

EDIT - I just checked Krales website and do not see a 46M listed.

Within the last three years or so, the 46M gun was sold under another name. It was an obvious direct copy and a total knock-off of the original Made In Russia versions (Baikal 46/46M). I was tempted at the time to buy one just for comparison, but my suspicion prevailed, so I did not buy one. According to my recent search, THAT pistol is no longer available (for obvious reason altogether I would think).

I believe that some GTA members here have purchased this version, as that's how I first became aware of it. I'd be interested to hear some feedback on those purchases.

I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PISTOL!!!!  OK, let's call it what it is - The Air Venturi 46M. Barrel says it's made in Russia, but really from the same factory?

My Belarus friend says that he used to work at the Baikal plant, so I trust him not only in his words, but that he has always come through on everything that I've purchased from him.

IMO any other TRUE Baikal, Made In Russia, 46 or 46M should hold up, and be the best that were ever made.

I hope it doesn't appear that I am getting off-topic here. I am just trying to sort out why the OP had that link breakage issue, how it came about, and how to ultimately fix it.

I remember an Airgun of Arizona walk though video where someone was working on a 46M.  Can't find that video now, but they clearly have a repair service at AOA.  One can ask if they might have some 46M parts laying about.





While at it, also ask Utah airguns...

AoA is from whom I bought my 46M. They sold it as a kit with that Bushnell Red Dot. I think the whole kit was under $400 in 2005, maybe less. Great people.

That's another great thought to go to them!

BTW I was given a IZH60 rifle..It is a fun little rifle. Perfect for sniping in the yard and garage..

I really hope for you that you don't end up parting it out. When they function, they are fantastic pistols.

However, if you do part it out I would like first dibs on the grips.

I have four MP60's, two that have the original steel breech and two polymer. I also have a polymer MP61 that is five-shot auto load.

I made a fairly easy-to-make knob for the loading lever, but don't have a pic of it. If you're interested I can send a pic and walk you through it. To me, that was the worst part of the rifle, but my mod on that makes it a bit more classy and easier to use.

They are fun to mod. About eight years ago I went a bit crazy on the MP60 in the pic below. UTG scope, rubber grips, undermount torch, and the front sight globe houses a laser that can be fine tuned. TKO silencer. Last step would have been a bipod, but then I regained my sanity. 




Keep me in mind for those grips.

I saw a YouTube video where the fellow glued some plastic knobs from a multi-tool set on to the cocking lever. I tried to emulate that but I guess my loc-tite was not working.

My method involves threading the original pellet loading "wire" link and threading on a turned and shaped aluminum coupler, with a screw on the finish end.

It's actually quite easy to do with a 6-32 die, the coupler, some screws and a drill with sandpaper. It comes out looking pretty nice actually.

I'll try to either dig up some pics that I might have (somewhere), or give me a few days to go to my other (gun stash, LOL) house and take some pics.

As I have done business with EAA in the past, I just sent off to them an inquiry as to whether they may still have some remaining parts for a 46M, even though those parts are not listed on their website.

Wait and see if they reply.

I worked on a couple of the Baikal 46M's that had the multi pump mod done to them. They made way more pressure than the stock gun, and nothing broke on them. The AV copy is not the same gun.

Correct. The AV gun is not the same.

If you want a truly nice pistol, pay the $$$ on eBay for the best example that you can find and don't mess with it, other than seals. The only seals that I have replaced on my 46's are the loading port seals.

The 46M was designed as it is - accurate 10M target.

No need to dig into it and make it better. Out of the box, it is a good as it will ever be. It's up to you to match the full ability of that pistol.

I am unaware of the multi pump mod. Not that I would do it to either of my Baikal 46 platforms, but I'm curious as to what was done on that mod. I cannot understand why anyone would mess with what is a great platform in the 46/46M. Yes, Baikal introduced a longer barrel and therefore stroke in the 46M version, but it was still Baikal. Excellent beginner 10M Match pistol.

I prefer SSP as well in this situation. To me, the gun is as perfect as it will ever be, at least for my purposes.

Why mess with an already great design?

EAA replied to me and said that parts for the IZZY 46M are no longer available.

Given the state of affairs with Russia these days I doubt we'll see parts for any Baikal anytime soon. eBay prices for different guns are going crazy. Even a grip alone for an IZH 53M (their cheapest pistol) is listed for $105. I bought a 53M off Craigslist a couple years ago for 40 bucks.

Glad I stocked up!
