Windows 10?

I have 3 different routers in my system. They share internet connection but the computers don't see each other. If I want to share files I'll do it with flash drives or OneDrive.

That makes sense.  My confusion came from your initial statement that the computer was not on a network.

 I'm having no issues with W10. In fact, my main OS is still W7.    My rig is a dual boot with 10 and 7 installed and other than Amazon Prime video, Windows 7 still works just fine.

If worse comes to worse you can get a pcie card with TPM on it and you can get by with secure boot.  I haven't found a way to stop syncing between puters on win 11 home network but I believe  it can be done in the registry.  I don't necessary like windows 11 but what the hey big brother Microsoft holds the cards so here we are.  Youn cango to free Linux but I could never get used to it.

Yeah, I meant that I didn't have them all set up as a home network where they could do hand shaking with each other.
The house router has my laptop, Betty Lou's tablet and 4 streaming tvs. The bar router has the Win 11 desktop and the bar streaming tv. The shop has the shop Win 10 PC and the shop streaming tv.
However, my laptop and 2 tablets can hit the wireless from any of the 3 depending on location.

I'm still using W7 and have no intentions of up grading to anything newer. My wife's laptop has W10 and the few times I've had to mess with it I didn't like it.  It seems like every time MS comes out with a new version it has less and less features. If you want the features that you lost with the up grade (?) it will cost you extra. I use my phone and tablet most of the time nowadays anyway.

I regularly use my Windows 10 desktop, two Windows 11 laptops, and one Windows 10 laptop. They vary in size, and two have touch screens, each serving different purposes.

 I spent a bit of time tweaking the UI on the 2 Windows 11 Laptops to make them as much like Windows 10 as possible. I still like Windows 10 better but for most tasks Windows 11 operates OK but is not an upgrade from my perspective. I think it is a shameful practice of Microsoft to intentionally "require" the hardware upgrades they are now requiring. 

As the support period for Windows 10 is nearing its end, I plan to continue utilizing these systems to their fullest extent. Previously, I used XP and Vista until transitioning to Windows 10, and I have successfully managed any issues that arose independently.

I have assembled many PCs since the late 1980s, but I will likely purchase a new desktop when I find an appropriate deal and feel it is necessary.

 I don't want to spend my time working on computers as much as just using them anymore.

I owned a PC repair and custom build shop back in 06. I did ok but OTC systems just got so cheap and available that most people just went out and bought new ones that included the latest MS software. I really enjoyed tinkering with them which probably lent to my current interests in airgun tinkering. The PC technology has far out grown my knowledge in the field. I know the basics and can diagnose most hardware issues but like I said.. just buying new is the easy road to go these days... kinda like a BIC lighter or ink pen.

I was exactly the same Bill.  I was in puter business 2000 to 2006 and made good money doing so untill Frys electronics came to town and blew me up.  and the rest of China flooded the market.  Made a little repairing their &^^&.  I saw the writing on the wall and just fully retired and moved to the old country place.  A little Karma is that Frys bellied up and folded.
I too have not been able to keep up with the changes but my grandson sure has.  Extended what he learned from me.

You have to download the Windows 11 iso file from MS prior to running.

I have the 11 ISO on a flash drive.
When Betty Lou's momma passed Betty Lou brought her PC home but she had it password protected and nobody knew the password. I hit it with the 11 ISO flash drive and it fired right up in 11. It's a great PC.. it's actually my main desktop.

My only issue preventing 11 on my Desktop is my CPU. (and it's motherboard socket, no upgrade processors for it)

Do not pay any attention to it saying Windows Server upgrade - it is doing Windows 11 Pro ( at least in my case - I had Win 10 Pro )


OH yea backup like Bill says - I did a complete clone of the drive to a spare drive before I started ( used Seagate Disc Wizard to clone )

I might suggest doing a complete backup of what you have before attempting this just for ha has.
Matter of fact.. I wouldn't even think of it if I had files I couldn't afford to lose.

 I agree, and back ups of back ups if it is really important stuff.

Do you run the flyby11 on the 10 you are about to upgrade.  A little confusing

I would think you would need to run it on the current 10 to prepare it to take 11.

I've not yet talked myself into doing it yet so I don't know for sure.

Yes run Flyby11 when you are running Windows 10
You will need the windows 11 24H2 iso file to drag and drop into the Flyby11 box.

Windows 11 setup takes it from there.

To make sure it worked OK I first cloned my C; drive to a second spare drive. ( I have a external USB drive docking station to make it easy )
I then switched out the drives and used the spare drive as drive C: and had the original disconnected on the table.

I then used the Flyby11 app and Windows 11 24H2 iso to update the spare drive ( now in the desktop as drive c: ) to Windows 11
It upgraded to 11 and keep all my apps and data.
I then went through the Windows Update online and it did successfully update with the new monthly stuff.
I then test ran all my apps - they all ran OK without asking for any re-certifications or re-running the installs.

So I switched the drives back to the original configuration ( the original C: is a SSD where as the spare is a spinning HD )
I then repeated the process and upgraded the SSD to Windows 11 and all worked and now I have Windows 11 24H2 running.

( I have been reading and researching this for months - I did not want to install Win 11 without my apps )
