Good shooting Paul.Another cagey Rat ...got Bushwhacked ! This time it is fatal too. Best Wishes - Tom
Nice shooting Paul!
Paul! Fantastic shot, video and pics! That was one tough or clueless cotton rat but good for you! Ha! Just received a Taipan Veteran 2 Tactical 550mm .22 from Dairyboy (Dillon)! It is a short stubby/compact lil beast! Trigger is similar to a RAW, build quality is outstanding and the CZUB (Un-Choked) barrel shoots pellets and slugs with the same accuracy, mines tuned to shoot JSB 18gr @ 975fps, NSA 20.2 @ 940-ish and FX Hybrids @ around 925, it's just under 32" long but a little over 10lbs with scope. Friend wants me to come out to pest some ground squirrels at his permission, he uses his FX M3 700mm .22...can't wait! The squirrels never have pressure so it's like a shooting gallery...😂. No rat traffic as of late...
Nice Shot Paulie, you finally got him, well the head shot did the job on that tough Rat, but he must have been the "dumbest Rat on the block" being shot twice at the same location and kept coming back for more.....
Paul ! You make them run faster w/o a tail & they zig zag more w/no rudder!! You sure did a cranium surgery , though the "patient " did not survive!
After reviewing the pics again , that tailess critter looks more like our meadow voles here , only on steroids !! . I've got the urge to hit a barn tonight. Last night was raining after the Thunder/hail storm that passed through our area. Again ,that was good shootin' Paul. Randall , I think That Rat Sniper guy is really showboating now w/ shooting tails off to position the quarry for lobotomy surgery,,,, just sayin'.

Just flaunting his magical surgery skills...the ones I wish I had!
Paul , you had to go there,,, misses , I had two last night. Ya know , you check your poi at 20 yards , then 15,12, 10 but what about 7,5 ? That's what I was up against last night. The cows were all the main area so it was full of big bright eyes & long faces everywhere I scanned. So I moved to the other window spot for a glance down the feed aisles and got a glimpse of a rat in the close headgate. No shot offered. I moved out of the old shed & walked around the barn to the man door leading into the feed aisles. Grabbed the short Trigger Stick & a seat cushion on the way past the vehicle & sat up on the concrete step inside the doorway. The cows promptly came over to investigate as cows do with sandpaper tongue licks & powerful sniffs from big noses. After they were somewhat satisfied I wasn't palatable they moved away to the big bale feeder & continued with "cow stuff"( ya know ,munch, burp, moo, pee, poop, repeat). I see a rat head peeking out from a hole in the stone wall ten ft. on my right. Where to hold ?! I held over a bit too much & "missed it by that much" ( an old quote from Get Smart TV show. Yeah I'm that old) ! In a few minutes a rat zipped across the floor to the headgates from the old silo entrance (10yrd.s) It teased me with glimpses as it came within 6ft. of me as it scurried about staying out of the cows way and throughout the headgates offering no shots until it peeked out briefly beyond any feeding bovines . This time I held too low and at the shot it went straight up like launched from a spring board , bounced off the metal gate & zig zagged through the headgates like a K9 dog running an obstacle drill! Then it darted back to the silo entrance never to be seen again! .Oh well... Busted!
Paul, we just appreciate these threads and are having a blast with them! Your 50yd shots really are tough to do on rats which are way smaller than a squirrel and you also shoot mice that are TINY so many kudos to you for your shot making abilities and for these threads that are FUN! We appreciate ya!
