Good morning airgunners!
Hello fellow GTA members. I hope everyone is having a great week and looking forward to a great weekend. We may have good weather on Sunday and Monday, so I hope to get out to the range. For anyone looking to visit, we have detailed directions here:
https://www.theairgunexpo.com/event-location-and-directions/
. Be sure to reach out via PM or Email before just coming out to make sure we are on-site and around that day.
Given the comments from yesterday's post, I'm going to look for my Aspen and see what we can do. That sounds like a great gun to get out and showcase again. I think I'm going to grab my Huben and my Eagle claw after that. Thanks for the heads up on the 250z. It's a great platform, and we'll get back to it at some point.
On a final note, Sue and I will be traveling starting the 19th and will be out of town until April 4th. I will continue to monitor the site while away and will post as things come up, but I will not be posting my daily posts until I get back. You can always reach out to me via PM or email.
As I look at shooting the Aspen this weekend (hopefully), what are you all most interested in?
For those who don't know about the aspen, it's a self-contained PCP. It's essentially a snowpeak model created for AirVenturi. I've always really liked it, but it does have limitations. The biggest observation has been that the pump wears out. So, if you are buying one to be your "only" gun that you intend to shoot tins and tins of pellets through over the course of a month, then I would highly recommend you NOT get the Aspen. But if you are looking for a hunting airgun where you may shoot 500 rounds a. year, and that's a busy year, then it may be a great gun. Or, if you are looking for a hunting gun that you fill from a compressor, tank, or hand pump at home and then use the integrated pump in the field to stay topped off, then it could be a great option (that's how I've always used mine.)
Anyway, let me know your thoughts when you can and I'll see what I can do before going out of town.
Thanks again for being part of the GTA!
Cheers
Rick
P.S. Airgun Expo is coming up! We will be hosting a GTA fun shoot at the same time as the EXPO. So, if you want to come out and spend Memorial Day weekend with us here in West Texas, please reach out and book your attendance. It's FREE; we just need to know how many folks are coming out!

Rick, Sir,
So how did that go?
I find when I pull my Aspen out after a while from the show case, aka under my bed, I have to take it apart and fiddle, usually with an o-ring or three, to get it to pump again. How about yours?
Once I get it going it's not bad, maybe even good. That is a gun that... gee if they put just a little more Quality inside it would be worth the extra cost.
Best,
Mike
EDIT: Nevuhmind, I found the update, topic=218055.msg156588014. I feel your pumping pain. That gun is more fun to disassemble/assemble than shoot.
