Where to buy a new pcp

Hey guys, I hope I’m in the right gate to post this question. Please forgive if I’m not. I’m still learning. I’m about to order a air Venturi avenger and I’m wonder if I should buy from pyramid air or Airgun depot and why. I dont want to encourage any negativity towards either but just looking for a little advice. Thanks.

PA and AGD are basically one in the same. They are sister companies.
They do operate separately and my experience that the PA side runs a bit smoother. That may be because it is closer to my location. I don't know, AGD maybe a better option for folks in their vicinity.
There used to also be a 3rd sister named Airgun Daily.. haven't heard anything of them in a few years.
Something new lately... PA is using Amazon's new shipping service. As a matter of fact, PA now has an Amazon store front.
The last 2 orders I placed came through Amazon shipping but the funny thing for me was that on the last leg of the delivery it switched over to USPS and they delivered the orders to me.
But yeah, PA and AGD are basically the same.

As for the Avenger...
The Avenger quickly rose to the top of my list as my favorite PCP.. but that's considering I am a sub $350 airgunner.
Recently I invested another $150 in the gun and bought the Buck Rail Tactical Kit and installed it. I really like the transformation. PA and AV also list the rebuild kits for the Avenger but they are out of stock with no ETA in sight.
Captain O-ring sells an oring kit for it and the kit comes with a chart showing the location of each oring. But it don't come with a new poppet and reg as the PA/AV kit comes with.
That said.. the Avenger has some great features that even guns costing much more don't have such as external regulator adjustment and affordable mags.
You might even up your budget a bit and have a look at the AV AvengeX.
Another one you might have a look at is the Umarex NOTOS.

I have faith in mine and accurately shoot it out to 45yds in my backyard range with my 18 <> gr cast pellets.

I just thought about filling the gun. I wonder if I can do it with a hand pump. I have a cheap hand pump that I have been using to fill the beeman raider to 3000 and 3500psi and that doesn’t seem bad at all. Not sure if I can get enough use out of the avenger if I only feel to 3500psi.

.22 cal , 40 to 45 good shots on reg , 1800 reg setting ,
fill to 3000 , 850 fps , 26 fpe with JSB 15.89 . Don't need to fill to 4300.

My first was an Umarex Origin kit from AGT. Came with a hand pump, was not expensive (at $359 as of right now), and is extremely accurate. As a matter of fact with the 3x9 UTG Bug Buster scope it is my most accurate rifle. The AV Avenger is basically the same gun with a regulator. The Origin, like the Avenger, also gets 40 shots per fill.

The Origin has it's own Ever Pressure Tank System which acts a bit like a regulator, but which is really designed to cut down on the amount of hand pumping you would need to do. It is a free floating piston inside the air tank that comes with 1000 psi in it positioned in the tank opposite where you fill it with air. As you pump it up the piston is moved further from the filling side until the gun is full. As you shoot and pressure is released it slowly moves towards the side of the air tank where you filled it from, being pushed by the 1000 psi behind it. The upside of the whole complicated mess is you only need to pump 13 or so pumps with a hand pump to be at enough pressure for a full power shot because you basically always start at 1000 psi.

The Avenger is now available in a combo kit with a pump from PA and AGT but it is $559, so $200 more than the Origin.

Man that’s what I was hoping to hear. I think I can swing that. Thank you so much. I hope I can shoot from 20 out to 40 yards without holdover something like that.

If you are asking if I like it more than an Avenger I can't answer that because I don't have one, but from what I understand they are basically the same rifle, except for the regulator in the Avenger being replaced with the EPS on the Origin. Most other parts are interchangeable. A bit like a Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. Main parts the same, with a few differences.

thanks. That’s not a bad deal. I’ll look and see if they have one in .22. I’ve always felt like .177 was too small to be a hunting pellet. That’s what I’m hoping to be able to use it for. Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately they don't have any original synthetic stock Avengers in refurb at Pyramid. They do have 2 of the Avenger Bullpup II, in .25, and  4 of the wooden stock Avengers in .22. The wood stock Avenger refurb is $329 after the code REFURB it is $263.99. The cheapest hand pump they have runs $130. So the total, before taxes to get you into an Avenger will be about $393. That's before a scope, pellets, etc.

Good hand pumps can be had in the $50 range. Many of us here have them.  Check Ebay.
The down side is that the Avenger is a 300 bar gun.. that down sound like a fun endeavor to hand pump. Mind you, it is a regulated gun and you don't have to pump it to the max to get a consistent string of shots but you will get less shots before coming off the reg.

I wish they had a refurbished Umarex origin. lol. Just to get it cheap. It seems like that would be easier to hand pump. I watched a video on the origin and being non regulated the guy was still getting a very consistent POI on his target. I thought that it would be sort of all over the place on the shot string but it was impressive.

I was in the same boat a few years ago -- unregulated seems like a no go if regulated is an option -- but in reality, both can be very precise.  Unregulated, you'll just get fewer "good" shots where the pressure is in the sweet spot of the curve, while regulated mostly takes that issue away.  If an unregulated gun gets 20-30 good shots, is that enough for your typical outing?  Unless you are shooting very small things, yes, I'd look for a .22.

I'll second the $50 hand pumps, they seem to work very well.  As with any hand pump, don't overheat it -- limit to 50-75 pumps per session before letting it cool back down for more  -- and lube it from time to time with silicon oil.  I have taken a gun to 4500 with one, but only once.  I think 3000 is more attainable -- without killing you or the pump.
