Smart guy Joerg Sprave: he chose to benchmark his thing against a .50 cal that shoots huge rubber balls ... just to make sure there is no penetration from what he chose to benchmark against.
One should ask oneself how it would compare with a normal .177 CO2 revolver shooting sub 7.5J.
Likely result is that the penetration might not be as good (although there will definitely be some penetration) but the accuracy 4 times better.
Well Maybe Joerg is a bad shot, I'll take that as an excuse ... maybe he would shoot 8" groups at 8m also with a pellet gun.
I have a cheap 60 euro .177 bb shooter that even has a smooth barrel ... when I get back home I will check what groups I can make with that (mind you I'm an awful pistol shooter).

So here's how it went:
I got penetration into a tin can of beans stuffed with rags. I took 10 shots (no practice just the first 10 from the CO2 Capsule I left in the gun last time I used it) about 8m onto paper target (with recycled rubber mat behind ) 6 were inside an inch and 4 look like fliers (both the cheap weapon with smooth barrel and my crappy pistol shooting can be blamed for the 4 flyers). All the shots penetrated into the mat.
Even with the fliers the group was under 3 inches.
The gun is a very cheap RAZOR Gun Maverick 84 with a home made moderator to make it quieter, no other mods.

Here's the pierced can.
I believe that I could 3d print a receiver for CP1 or CP2 to take a 12mm alluminum tube (ID 10mm) to shoos small flechettes.
Actually I think I almost already have it because I designed a copy of the original receiver for testing purposes ... just got to make a bigger hole for the lager barrel.
If anyone is interested let me know ... I can share the stl or even send the 3d printed receiver.

After that I only have comments that are not allowed.

It’s not accurate enough to pin a rat to the floor, and never will be.

I was editing my post as you replied ... I think that the CP2 with custom receiver I suggested above may be accurate enough to nail rats at 10m.
If the flechettes be made from nails and some DIY cones that would be quite literal
