Nice shooting! I figured I might be losing some power since I didn't check my slug size and they may be a hair too thin. So I go to pull out my sizing dies and swage press to make sure I get a good fit and dang if I can't remember where I put them the last time I used them which I admit was a couple of years ago. I know they are in my little workshop but... so I am in the process of tidying that place up...more or less

Well, I have now confirmed that the rail on my rifle is a Weaver compatible rail, but not Picatinny. Weaver brand name rings will work, but Picatinny rings will not. I have many sets of Picatinny rings but did not have any Weaver rings until today.

Good news! At least it isn't some strange proprietary size. Still, it shouldn't be hard to change out for Picatinny if you want.

Jared, I noticed that the scope you put on your rifle (per the link you sent) specifically says that the rings will fit 20mm Weaver and 20mm Picatinny rail. Per the research I have been doing, Weaver rings will fit a Picatinny rail, but Picatinny rings will not fit a Weaver rail. I suspect that your rifle has a Weaver rail as well, but woud be interesting if you tried some Picatinny rings on your gun to see.

Anyhow, now that I have that sorted, I mounted a Hawke 4X scope on my rifle (not what I will use long term) and shot some groups at 16 yards (just inside my fence) I have not cleaned the barrel yet, just seasoning the rifle out of the box. It didn't seem to like the CPUM pellets that much, but the 18 gn Apolo pellets were shooting hole in hole. Rain is coming in for a few days so not sure if I will be able to shoot more until later in next week.

With what I shot today and yesterday, I have put close to 50 shots through the rifle on the first fill, that was only to 3000 psi. I have never owned an air rifle that could give me that many shots per fill...pretty nice!

Looking at the rifle, that top rail is all one piece. (I assumed it migh be a bolt on rail on top of the mount) Unless we can find out who actually manufactures the rifle or Pinty starts carrying parts, I don't think we can swap that rail. $:-\$ But good news is there are plenty of Weaver rings available, and I have ordered a short Picatinny riser that will come tomorrow to try as well. I plan to put my Sig Romeo 4 red dot on the rifle if that riser works out.

What is the opinion on it?
Is it worth the $240/$250 price?
Does it need a lot of work to make it shoot well?

Hi John, I have only had my QM23 for two days, and Jared has had his for about a week. With any new gun it is a discovery process to see what works and what needs attention. There is not too much information out there about these guns yet, and every day I discover something new about mine. I published some chrony numbers yesterday, and just today sorted the issue with the scope rail, so only had a chance to shoot a small number of pellets for groups at a short 16 yard distance. I've owned many airguns, some well known at the time, and some that were brand new like this one and at this stage, I am calling this one a keeper. Would I buy it again at the same price...yes! It's a bit of a gamble of course, because who knows about longivity at this point or if parts will ever be available. I went through the same thing with the Notos when it was just released and it has become a huge hit, in somewhat the same price range.

So far I have not done anything to the rifle, it is just out of the box, and I am pretty happy with what I have seen. Could the trigger be better, sure, but it is not bad as it is.The action is pretty smooth and I have not had any feeding issues. My rifle does not make a ping noise in the shot cycle, which is crisp, but Jared said his does ping a bit.

I plan to make a small modification to the safety soon which will just require a very minor scraping with a file. Otherwise, my impressions so far is that the rifle is a great value for the $240/$250 I paid.

I went out to give it a go on my 50 yard range today, I got one shot off and hit the gong, then my buddy pulled in, and rather flap his lips than shoot a really cool airgun

I have no issues with the cocking lever. My crown looks fine. It has held air with no issues and shoots great. Since Troy was able to change his barrel I am considering to buy another and install a .177 barrel. I think it is a good value for money spent.

Are you talking about the M18/Talon clone or the bullpup?

More communication with Pinty Support. I sent the email to them before I confirmed that Weaver rings will work with my Bullpup:

"I received my QM-23 and the manual says that the top scope rail should be a 22mm Picatinny Rail, but my rail measures 19.6mm and scope rings will not fit the rail. The rifle cannot be used without scope rings so I will need a replacement top rail or I will have to return the rifle for a refund. Please advise next steps."

Used this Picatinny riser to mount my Sig Romeo 4H optic on my QM23: (TACFUN 2PCS Flat TOP Half 1/2 INCH Mini Riser Block Mount 3 Slot Picatinny Rail (Amazon)) This riser bolted securely to my Weaver compatible rail and gave me a comfortable sight picture with the optic mounted. The Weaver scope rings I purchased for testing were one inch and the scope I want to mount on the rifle is 30mm so I need to order another set of rings.

I found a clip on air tank tube accessory picatinny rail 3D printer file set that perfectly matches my QM-23 on Cults3D for less than $4. I printed one out, spray painted it black, and it works great. The air tank tube on the QM-23 is 30mm. The file set contains 3 different types of rail: bottom only, sides only, or the one I printed which has all 3.
