Interesting!!!  Some folks have noted that the Snowpeak P35 is a copy of another rifle, and I guess another company could do a copy of the Snowpeak P35...(haha) I have been looking at accessories for the P35 and now wonder if they will fit, time will tell. UPS is still showing mine will arrive tomorrow.

We've already discovered the barrel on the Snowpeak M18 clone is not compatible with the Airforce LW barrels. Different length of the narrow end where the hammer and block slide.

Haven't compared to the M18, have to find one.

Added the Pinty scope to it

First impression was ""dang" it's light!" Compared to my Challenger or Sumatra this thing weighs nothing. I think it's like 5 1/2 pounds soaking wet

2nd impression: it has a spring loaded self closing fill port cover! Nice touch! Filling it now. They also include a ton of o-rings and a little tub of silicone grease. Again, nice touch

Scope rail seems to be the same metal as the whole rail assembly. No 2nd pressure gauge, but according to the manual there is a regulator. attaching specs page from manual now. I fired a mag through it. It is easily as quiet or quieter than my Umarex Origin. Maybe slightly louder than my Diana Bandit .22 PCP pistol . Maybe equal.

I liked the trigger, feels better than my Sumatra's. I did find the gun is also called the QM-23, By Defensor (Forever) and there are a lot of Youtube reviews of it, but they are all in Spanish so you have to use the translate feature in them.  The gun is popular in places like South America.




Someone in the comments on the video above asked the guy reviewing the gun if it was a P15 with the lever moved forward and some other improvements and the reviewer answered that it was.

Very interesting indeed. Maybe parts are more widely available... BTW, my Samatra had a very heavy trigger, unlike my .30 cal AEA Challenger, which had a nice trigger out of the box.

I put a chrony on the gun a minute ago. I am using standard 14.3 Crosman Premier HPs, and I am getting consistent 275-276 m/s for 902-905 fps for more than 100 fps above the specs. I'm happy with it.

The 3rd mag I put in, after a shot or two the trigger was hard like it wasn't cocked right or something. Made me check the lever to make sure it was closed all the way. Then it went back to normal. Happened a couple of times. I am guessing the thing needs polishing and lubing like they always do. On the whole though it shoots very nice except I have to get used to how quiet it is. I will have to put a DIY brush depinger in there though. Quiet as it is there is a bit of ping to it.

Another reviewer in Spanish says the gun has the same spring loaded fill port as the P35, same lever action as the P35, but better airflow and better "everything".
I would post that video here but it was one of a rabbit hunt with the Pinty and that might not be cool in this section.

I saw on a video from Chile another rifle almost exactly like the Defensor QM-23/Pinty bullpup but it was a Defensor QM-22 and it has the side lever all the way in the rear. Otherwise it is the same as far as stock, rail, etc.




One final thing I noticed about the rifle in my hand - on the serial number on the side of the buttstock it reads QM23CEBB0098, so it's the 98th made and is indeed a QM23 as shown in the specs of the manual. Nowhere on the gun is the name "Pinty" or any other manufacturer name, and every website or video with a QM23 air rifle seems to be coming from Chile.

Found the problem with the trigger - it is easy to push in the safety on the trigger slightly, which catches it against a little raised projection on the trigger guard that acts as the trigger stopping safety when it is all the way pressed. I was just looking at the trigger and  duplicated my "hard as *(&^ trigger" in exactly that way, not even noticing the way the safety liked to move partially in to the on position when I held my finger on the trigger a certain way. The safety rod is actually built into the trigger, instead of being located somewhere else.

The safety and the fill port are the same as the MrodAir P12 I owned several years ago. These guns have some SPA/Snowpeak DNA in them for sure. I suspect that many of the aftermarket items that are available for the P15/P35 will work with these as well, maybe even the Huma regs.

Once mine arrives today I will experiment with the hammer spring adjustment just to see what can be done. My P12 (not regulated) was able to shoot up to 40 ft lbs with some minor tweeking. My goal with the Pinty is not max power (My Airforce and AEA guns have that; I need a yard gun) but would love to see 18 gn pellets at 800 fps or so.

Just noticed that Pinty's website has been updated and they are now calling this rifle the PCP-QM23.

I'm waiting to see what you think when yours gets there. I shot a few mags through mine and am happy right out of the box with how it shoots. I put up a bench rest to work on sighting in my Sumatra 2500 yesterday and while I had it up I shot the QM-23 as well. It easily out shot the Sumatra as far as accuracy, but I think that is due to how powerful the Sumatra is. I had just put a power tune valve/hammer kit in the Sumatra and didn't realize until today when I slapped a chrony on it that the Sumatra is shooting at 1280 fps with those 14.3 gr Crosman HPs and at that speed they are not great for being accurate, so I will have to cast some more 21 grain .22 slugs to try in both rifles.

That Sumatra is really poking them out there. 21 gn might not be heavy enough to get under the sound barrier.

I suspect that the Bullpup will probably shoot 18 gn pellets at close to 800 fps right out of the box, but that may depend on where the Hammer Spring adjuster is set from the factory. As a yard gun, I plan to use Apolo 18 gn pellets as the goto unless the gun doesn't like them. I had a Notos that did like them and shot them about 745 fps. Deadly on raiding squirrels at up to 35 yards or so. I will crank it all the way up just to see what it will do, but will bring it back down for the long term.
