Sometimes I look at my wife and son and my own strangeness, thinking how lucky I am.

In the Caribbean, the word "I" is used differently than here. "i" refers to anyone in a similar place of social standing. There is a GTA "I", for instance, that is all of us who post about our lives in an airgun context.

I had a moment shooting the fortitude in the basement and then walking to bed when the sight of my wife and son reminded me of my luck.

Do you also have lucky moments? Or moments of realizing your good fortune?

The stranger the story the better [chuckling]...

Also, include the tragedy... in my experience luck and tragedy are never far off [chuckling]. They're cousins!

I have my best friend for a Wife...

She and I met in 1st grade.
I had a crush on her in high school back on '80-'81.
We went our separate ways.
Both of us made a big mistake in our first marriages... but then reunited in the grocery store one day.
Now we have been married 25 years.
I would walk on hot coals, laughing at Satan, for this woman.

Sometimes, too often, I awake at night in my own old trauma dreams (nightmares).. and then just gaze at my wife's beautiful, calm, sleeping face.
I ponder how lucky I am to have her into my life.
Then everything is right again and I can go back to sleep.
Hope that makes sense.

Married my high school sweetheart. Been together over 30 years now, have 6 kids and a great relationship.

She takes care of the home and schools our children with the tenacity of a honey badger. The oldest child recently off to college in an honors program.

We were just 15 when we started dating, and not only did I have no idea what the future would hold, I most definitely did not have the wisdom to be looking for someone with the qualities to be a wife and a mother. But I can look back now and see I hit the jackpot.

I have been known, on rare occasion, to hold her hair out of the "porcelain alter" while she removes the nights festivities..

But more recently we have had a rough go. She broke her foot on 9/3/24 and he body rejected the steel plates, that led to 5 bacterial infection, the wound when the cast removed was decayed flesh. 3 surgeries in a week to clean it up. The last was 12 hours long to do a transplant from her thigh. Then her heart went into A-fib from all the anesthesia. A week in ICU, 2 weeks "bed ridden" in the Hospital, and then another 2 weeks in Rehab.
The photos I have a too gruesome even for the "Hunting Gate".
She has been home for about 4 weeks now, but still confined to the down-stairs with me as her "Care-Giver". I was giving her infusions at 09:00 and 14:00 daily via P.I.C. line.
She can start "weight baring" with crutches or walker.
P.T. visits here at home twice a week is extended for another 6 week yesterday.
Today's Trauma Surgeon visit he said "See you in 3 months and we will see what we need to do next."

Plastic Surgeon is optimistic but said "We will do liposuction in 6-8 months".
This is a hunk of her thigh, grafted onto her foot.

From reading your posts she's a wonderful lady and don't deserve what's y'all are dealing with. Thoughts are with y'all.

I know it will take a long time, but I hope she makes a full recovery Scott.
