What do you think about this particular scope stop?

I am having problems with my Ga mo scope stop, which is getting deformed under recoil and making my 11mm to Weaver adapter rail move again.
Obviously, I need a better stop, but I want to be sure the one I get will stand up to the hard recoil from my gas spring Ga mo.

It's a real drag not having this Ga mo in shootable condition.

I've never used that stop but it looks to me like a quality stop and I would expect it to work well.  Hopefully another member who has "hands on" experience with it will chime in.   I've never been a fan of GAMO scope stops, I've always found them to be junk.

I don't use a scope stop on my Gamos.  What I do use is a one-piece Accushot scope mount, with the scope stop screw hole drilled and tapped for a bigger scope stop screw - one that actually fits the hole on top of the gun's receiver tube.  Scope hasn't moved yet.

It can't move because of the forward stop.

Longislandarcher, the reason I don't use the Accushot one piece mount is because it has aluminum rings, and my scope was slipping in my old B-Square aluminum rings, and I switched to the 11mm to Weaver adapter specifically so I could use the stout steel Leupold PRW Weaver style rings.
Were it not for the ring slip in aluminum, I would have gone with that long ago, as it is the simplest and cheapest option.
It would definitely work on an airgun that did not kick as hard as mine, a .22 caliber Gamo CFX with the Air Venturi gas ram conversion.

454, I already have that particular rail, but it's rather short, so that is why I switched to the Sun Optics rail that is very similar and about an inch longer.
The recoil screw is rather thin compared to the recess in the receiver top, so that is why I even bothered with separate scope stop.


Atchman2, I thought about that, as its recoil plate would perfectly solve my problem, but I don't know if it would work with my CFX's receiver front, or if it might put my scope too far forward.
It would definitely take care of all my woes if it worked on both counts, though.
I just don't feel excited about spending about half the cost to return it if it won't.
It would be nice to know for sure, though.

I have never had any problem scoping any of my guns before, even my other CFX, a .177 that still has the factory spring.
It looks as if the gas ram is an absolute sledge hammer to ordinary mounts, and it even destroyed the Gamo stop.
Very frustrating to be going through all this trouble.

I couldn't say on that stop but, at $14.95, I wouldn't put a lot of faith in it.  The last owners of Beeman imported some pretty cheap stuff.

Ah well, I went on ahead and ordered the Beeman stop, since I am unable to find anything else.
I remember some years ago, when Saint Robert still had ownership of Beeman, they sold a really solid looking steel scope stop that looked as if it could have stopped a freight train.
I suppose this will have to do, and if fails, I'm just about whooped.

Thanks for the tip anyway, but I mentioned that my own Gamo scope stop is getting destroyed.
It worked for a little over one hundred shots, then it started twisting and popped out of the groove.

This one came with my TF-87. It works just fine if you also have a hole in the receiver for the stop screw. The 87/.22 has a lot of recoil, but this little unit arrested that just fine. Make sure the yellow shock absorber is against your scope mount. I've since taken it off because I have a scope with a really short eye relief, and this unit takes up an extra inch of that eye relief. Where that's not an issue, I give this little mount 5 stars. Darryl, I hate to burst your bubble, but that is exactly the same scope stop I am currently having to abandon because it can't stand up to the recoil.
It is all bent up and about to pop out of the dovetail.

Oh, I definitely engaged the stop screw as much as possible, but the chintzy nature of this multi-piece stop, with nylon making up large parts of it, can't handle the recoil.
The gun is an Air Venturi gas ram converted .22 caliber Gamo CFX, and yes, the recoil is rather brisk.
My original scope rig, which worked just fine with the factory spring, suddenly could not restrain the scope within the rings, as it inexorably slid rearward within them, even as the rings (aluminum B-Squares, both with their integral scope stop pins engaged) stayed put on the 11mm stock mounting rail.
As soon as the CFX returned from PyramydAir after the gas ram install, the scope skid happened.
After fewer than 100 shots, the scope had slipped rearward over two inches!

Extremely frustrating, and I have no faith in the one-piece aluminum Accushot mount touted by so many on here, since it is made of aluminum, which I have found sadly wanting when it comes to handling recoil, at least when it comes to the rings.
At this point, I am about ready to just chuck it and get out a TIG welder and permanently attach the scope to the top of this rifle.

OP, when you say you engaged the stop screw "as much as possible" does that mean the stop screw was turned against the receiver, or turned down into a hole in the receiver?. I turned the screw into a hole I drilled in the receiver (after talking to the gunsmith at Compasseco about where I could drill). I'd be interested to know how you make out on this issue. I am currently using an Accushot offset scope mount with my little Bug Buster, on a TF-87/.22. So far, with using just one integral scope stop-screw ( I took that scope stop off to regain some eye relief) things are holding up pretty well. I wish the scope  mount had three or four mounting screws, but it has just two. I've found that the Accushot high scope mount holds well with it's four mounting screws on an RS2, but that rifle does not have quite the recoil of the TF-87.
