Crosman 766 trigger modifacation

I have my American classic apart doing some trigger work, [cut a loop off the sear spring, relaxed the trigger spring some, polished the pins, stoned and polished the striker where the sear hooks up, stoned and polished the trigger ball that rides on the sear ledge, stoned and polished the sear face, and going to place and o-ring around the end of the compression tube to stand the sear off from the striker], this is all pretty new to me but have worked on a lot of rim fires fluffing and buffing, trigger work and bedding so I understand the basic principles, but the air rifle is a little different creature, some.

When I disassembled it I found some shims of tin maybe.020-.030" siliconed in front of the trigger to take some of the trigger pull out. I removed all that but was considering putting some J.B weld in this area and making a pad of sorts on the side of the receiver that has more frame exposed in front of the trigger by filing and conforming the epoxy to provide the same purpose of removing some of the long trigger pull. In my observation it appears that if you put too thick of a pad the safety won't engage and was thinking of filing the tang on the back of the trigger where it engages the safety. Am I missing any other problems by doing this?

Another question I have, the sear has two fins the front engages the striker for release but what is the one to the rear for...1st stage stop?

 Going to grease the pins and pivots and was wondering If I should lubricate the striker, say with some clear silicon grease, I have molly as well but seemed i read somewhere it should not be used in the aluminum / pot-metal receiver?

Maybe I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but willing to learn-

I finished my project and what a pleasant difference it made in the trigger. Wound up lubricating the hammer and tube where it slides with  Militec.  I watched a few more you-tubes and got myself a little more acquainted on how everything works on the inside, great learning experience. My hands and shoulders fared pretty good but made many sessions in setting down and getting it all done. Wanted to thank Ron for his encouragement just in taking the project on, Thanks Ron! I hope I wasn't a bother

I had it out today and what an accurate little rifle...but then it always has been, but now way more shoot able with the trigger work... I even put a 3-9 on it

Was wondering if anyone knows where to source the little bumper, i suppose its rubber of sorts, for the fore end that keeps the thing from clacking when you pump it up?... or maybe any D.I.Y. ideas. On the underneath of the pump handle there is a circular protrusion towards the receiver that I'm sure something like that went at one time.

Anyways just thought I'd let everyone know how it went-
