Learning the legalities of owning, carrying and using

Greetings all,
I am new to owning air guns (less lethal launchers). I own a pistelle x.68, a Byrna LE and a Salt.
I use to own real firearms but was charged with a misdemeanor for shipping firearms across state lines into New York. Now I am ineligible to apply for a conceal carry permit or to own them.
I thought the best alternative was owning less lethal launchers.
I was told they are legal and no permit or license is needed in upper state New York, but the restrictions are numerous and confusing.
So I come to you in hopes you can clear things up for me. Are the launchers I mentioned that I own legal in up state New York? Can I conceal carry them, where can I take them and where can I not?
I read so many contradictions on Google. Googles says they are legal but as mentioned the restrictions are confusing. Can I own a less lethal rifle or shot gun? I learned the barrel of a less lethal shotgun must be 18” or less, otherwise I can own it? Is this true?
I have lots of questions, please help! Thank you

Id start with having that conversation with your attorney. Then approach your state representative (not your congressman). They likely wont know but may know who at the state level would know. and finally Id speak to some one at the state attorney's office. Record everyone's name you talk to, date and time the convo occurred. Asking here is likely to generate as much false/wrong info that Goggle gives you. Concealed carry is gonna be a big can of worms.... Even if the "device" is "legal", having it hidden under your jacket may be the issue.

As a native NY'er , I can tell you that outside the city , its legal to own airguns and thats what those are..( barrel length is not relevant for airguns )  If you ever have to use it ,the state will bring charges , its just what they do.. As far as carrying it , it all depends on the cop.. Youre essentially carrying a pellet gun in their eyes. The result of a poor interaction will be hit or miss. As a teen on long island we had many run ins with cops while using our pellet guns , no one was arrested as theyre perfectly legal to own, the problem was generally where we were using them ( state parks or inside water district property etc
