"Blue Painters" tape is a blessing for the packaging on the gun whether butchers paper or bubble wrap . But I always use "packing" tape on the box itself.

X they've been bad for years at not properly padding items and I've left numerous complaints about it as well and I know many others have too yet they still do it.
Extra packing? I don't mind a bit. I have had stuff come that was just bouncing around in an "oversize" box.
Don't nobody carry a good pocket knife anymore?
