Christmas present to myself 1912 BSA rifle

My favorite period BSA rifle made before WW1.  Hard to imagine but this was made the same year of the sinking of the Titanic.  And they are no joke very hard hitting and super accurate rifles.

Warm enough today to chrony with 14.5 SuperDomes; it was hitting 604 FPS or 11.75 FPE. Right up to specs of 1912 that advertised 600 FPS. Barely legal under current law in the UK! Somehow this didn’t totally surprise me cause of the condition inside and out. Very cool to do this with original spring and leather seal. Couldn’t be more pleased.

Probably similar?  The BSA rifles put very little preload on the spring (unlike modern rifles) thus if not used much it probably retains its punch.

Warm enough to sight in yesterday and it was hit pretty much right on.  Quite the sound, like a airgun musket.  It gives me the feel of my old flintlock rifles but back yard friendly.

SuperDomes aren't too bad. The soft skirts blow out well
They shoot so much smoother with vintage Eley Wasps. You just have to find them and pony up. Sellers think they're gold now. In some ways they are, I guess. Nobody makes such a good 5.6 mm now.
H&N FTT 5.55 are usable

Thank you for sharing such a gem with us. I would love try one of those BSA’s someday. My only BSA was a well used ‘65 350 cc bike that had been used for dirt riding in AZ. Your is much cooler.
