Scammer Alert?

There is a user by the name of Watton on the Canadian http://airgunforum.ca forums too. Could be your same guy. Can't see his profile or much detail without becoming a member of the website to learn more.

I'm a registered user on the CAF, there's not much to see in his profile. He never disclosed his location, which is not unusual, also he never posted anywhere else than in the ''Introduce yourself'' section. Hard to tell if he's the same person, but nonetheless I PM'd a moderator about him. Hoping it's not the same person.

YEP, got contacted by "WATTON" and was given autopartsdealer1@yahoo.com as a contact e-mail and  4145335204 as a contact number. He said his "wife" would be cashing the money order for him and HER name is Karen Musson of 6500 st johns Drive #1072 Benbrook texas 76132
After things went south I contacted the Benbrook POLICE!  I actually spoke to a detective, and they did send officers out to the address to question Karen.....she claimed to have never heard of the guy or knew anything about an FX barrel (my purchase)  Claimed she'd had her ID hacked.  Still doesn't explain HOW the perp managed to get a check cashed in HER name, from HER Mailbox.

At any rate, ANYONE scammed by this $)((#, SHOULD contact the Benbrook PD and talk to Detective/Officer? Bloomenthall.  Perhaps IF he gets enough phone calls, they will dig into this scumbag and his accomplice a bit further!

Oh, and IF you think paying with a USPS money order gives you ANY protection, you are mistaken. YES, it's a felony to commit mail fraud using the US Postal Service, but according to MY Postal Master there is not much they can do.  Apparently ALL these scammers that get paid, just claim they sent the item and it must have gotten lost in the mail. (usually without tracking)

Do your due dillagence, if you've had any dealings with this guy, contact the Benbrook PD and file a report, only takes a few moments of your time and itr MAY stop this jerk from screwing over other people, better yet, he may do time!

In a pursuant inquiry (from a different email address) I was also told the person was in Benbrook , Texas

I may give them a call............

I spoke with Officer Blumenthal yesterday and provided all the info that I had.
Even included a few email addresses............

He said that Ms. Karen was a little old lady who is probably somewhat electronically challenged......

Awesome.  Eventually if enough people inform the PD what went down, they will launch a full investigation of this 'charecter' and justice will be served.  I do not hold out hope that justice will prevail, but every little bit of info the PD receives, perhaps they will catch a break and nab him.


So being 'elderly' it's unlikely Karen is working with this criminal, but it IS interesting that who ever this criminal IS, he DOES have access to her mailbox!!  SO that dirtbag MUST live near by to go collect his checks from her mailbox.  Her address is literally where my payment went, so this guy MUST have access to her mailbox in some manner or another.  IF I lived near by, I"d bait the dirtbag with a payment and put at least 3 trail cameras on the mailbox!!!  With an image of the scumbag, it should be simple for the PD to go pick him up. (since I DOUBT the PD has the rescources to 'stake out' her mailbox in hopes of catching him.

The keys are fairly common, and that once the perp can open 1 door he has access to all the mailboxes.......
I didn't exactly get what he was saying, but he didn't think it was difficult to do........

Mailbox keys for apartment complexs are common and sometimes people have the same key. They are not very secure in terms of unique tumbler combos.

The point being that the perp would either physically have to go get the check/payment, or someone working with him would have to go get it.  SO, the criminal or associate of the criminal would 'break cover' and make a public appearance, thus possibly be identified and or be captured.


The worst part is, even IF captured, would probably only receive a slap on the wrist or a few months behind bars at best.  Scamming is a pretty scummy way to screw over other people, but hardly "public enemy number one".  I'm sure law enforcement has 'bigger fish to fry' and sees this scammer as more of a nuisance.  Further reducing the possibliity of prosecution.

Matt, what if the perp is the mailman himself?
 He'd certainly know what's coming to her mailbox, and maybe watching for it.
