Chairgun (I know, I know) says that a wind coming from directly behind the shooter will not affect trajectory or windage at all.
This afternoon I was shooting with about a 15 mph wind coming from within a few degrees of 6 o'clock. I was adjusting a scope and knew that I would have probably have to bring it down for the different tune and zero that I was applying. The group was quite poor for that rifle and pellet. The same combo has produced .5-inch groups at that range in the past. It was much higher and slightly off to the right at 25 yards than I expected.
What should I expect a 6 o'clock wind to do for both drop and drift?

Yeah, pellets get a kick in the pants from 6 o'clock winds. The wind against the ground gives it a slight updraft. Why do you think a popular pellet brand in the UK was called Falcon?

here is a pretty good article explaining the "wind effect".

For some reason GTA isn't letting me post hyperlinks.
Take care, Bernie.

While I don't shoot targets except for the live ones when I am hunting squirrels, I have a couple of theories about a wind from the 6 o'clock direction:
I would think that the pellet would hit low if shooting up - like shooting at a squirrel high in a tree. And the reverse would be my guess if the target was down hill - like shooting from a hill top into a valley. Shooting up might be affected more than shooting down.
YMMV
