Bought a case on the Bay and gutted the bottom half. The top had a nice red velvet covered foam which was fine. Irony the case was shipped covered in sturdy 1 inch foam sheets. Used that foam to form the bottom. Matched the dark red velvet about perfectly.

Sweet! I have been thinking of making nice custom fit wood cases for my hunting rifles, way better than hope it fits in a plastic one.

Have refined it a bit. Made 4 separate foam spacers that can be turned to different thickness or stacked to accommodate different rifles. Below I stack 2 of the spacers to fit and hold a 1906 Brittania Air rifle. The spacers hold the rifle with no wobble. Love the book matched walnut veneer. Plan to take it to airgun shows next year to display some of my rifle collection. Besides a nice presentation it is very secure transport.

Nicely done, Steve! The deep red has a regal quality which somehow matches the rifles. It's almost as if the box was made to measure. Well spotted!
