Designing a valve/breech hybrid

Hello dear GTA forum, this is my first post here so forgive me if I did anything wrong.
As a former machinist I always dreamt about building an airgun, but wanted to build something out of the ordinary.
Some days ago I looked at the valve mechanism of the huben k1 and thought that maybe the piston that keeps the barrel shut could also act as the probe for the pellet, if allowed to go backwards. Making the piston go backwards has a major drawback in the original huben design, because recharging the chamber behind the chamber is done using a small hole, if I understand the design correctly.
My idea would be using the design of the probe to push down at the closing valve to let air into the barrel chamber.
Right behind the valve body will be the magazine, which isnt modeled yet
The probe gets held forward by a sear behind the magazine which also isnt modeled yet
I don't know yet if the dimensions are correct and if the idea works at all, so I'll be interested to hear from you

Interesting thought. I’m not 100% clear on how the probe would function in your idea based on your original drawing.
Just for the part of not allowing the small “bleed” of air to enter before the piston returns, you might consider the force needed to reopen the bottom poppet (known as a closing valve). A small bleed could be actuated more easily by the top poppet (opening valve). Once the pressure equalizes, the closing valve will open (as in the huben) via a light spring.
I enjoy these discussions and out of the box thinking.

What was drawn was not registering as to function when seen a couple days ago, still don't.

When the probe returns to firing position the chamfers on both parts push against each other, pushing the bottom piston down just enough so the o-ring isn't sealing anymore. Maybe it has to be said that I only intend to run this valve at about 800psi.

How much travel length are you expecting the green poppet to need?
Will there be a probe to push pellet from mag to barrel or will the poppet itself extend that length?
I understand lower pressure will help in unseating lower poppet but it will still be quite a bit of force, depending on how large that port (sealing margin) is.

Elijah,
My comment may not affect your design: The Huben does not use a probe to load the pellet from its magazine into the barrel. It fires the pellet directly from the chamber in its magazine, more in line with how a revolver cylinder has a number of chambers that the bullets are fired from; directly. In other words, the Huben has no probe.
To aid our understanding of your idea, perhaps you can explain what problem it solves, or what advantage it has over existing systems?
Thanks
