Selling guns

I do not throw away ag boxes….having said that I developed a bad habit of throwing the boxes up into the garage rafters…absolutely no organization….my question ..how important to the buyer (if lucky enough to have one) is the original box….I dont know if I have the energy or dexterity to climb around up there..

The importance of the box varies depending on the collectability of the rifle/gun.
Certainly, the older the gun, the more valuable the box.......

That being said, original boxes may offer certain shipping benefits......

You can always auction the box off on Ebay later

If I buy a rifle to be shipped,  I just want it to arrive undamaged.
I would want the rifle action removed from the stock to get cheaper shipping.
I don't really care for the box. 

I don't collect, but I have 5.
I still have the box for 2 of them.

I collect shipping boxes and the retail boxes because they are convenient.  I seem to ship the occasional air gun and it's nice to have a box handy.  I've still got room in the attic for a few more.

Same here, I prefer the original box and so far the ones I bought from members on here were shipped in their original box.

Speaking of selling airguns. Due to a health condition I will be selling my airguns in the future all with
original boxes but my local UPS store will not ship air rifles. Does US mail ship air guns? Any info would
be appreciated. Also, any way to save on shipping cost?

I have used US post Office for shipping. I state the contents as pneumatic airrifle equipment.  No worries.


I did dig into the post office requirements and found that the maximum pressure is 65psi unless you have a special shipping container,  then it's 135 psi. I remove air down to about 65psi to ship.

UPS counter should not object.
The contract locations such as Pack-n-Ship type places can set their own rules...

The autos store will not ship any air rifles. Thier rules, not ups. I ship ups out of Staples all the time.

We have a local PC repair shop in town that is affiliated with Radio Shack. They are a UPS drop off and pickup point but their prices are high... I don't use them unless I am returning an item to the place of purchase on their dime. But they never ask about the contents. Probably something in the fine print.

Yep.  I print the way bill and stick it on the box then just drop it off at the UPS affiliate in Hooterville.  No questions asked.  Pirate ship is the way to go.
