New DRS

Still on the look out for a gunsmith to do the inletting, but the new stock came in today!  I ordered it as bare bones as possible, so no paint, and no molded-in colors.  It's definitely weird looking!







When the stock is inlet and a stud for a bipod is added, I'll either have it painted or hydro-dipped.  But that's so far into the future, I'm not really thinking about it right now.

One stock place got back to me, they're too backed up.  Still waiting on the other one.  I think I'm going to give them a call this week.  My email may have gone to their spam folder. 
They'll probably say no though, so I will have to face the reality that I'll have to inlet this stock myself...  Which scares me, TBH  LOL  But it'll get done.  It'll just take a while.

My wife purchased me a really nice Steve Corcoran stock a couple years back. It still needed a fair amount of inletting to get my 177 into it. I was freaking out over the unknown. I did a ton of research and video watching and I just took my time. It ended up good. I'm sure you'll do the same buddy.

Well...  Looks like I'm going to have to inlet the stock myself.  I guess it's a good thing I'm getting a mill somewhat soon. Ish.  I'll update when I can.  It'll be a little bit though.  I know people have been successful inletting with a router and such.  But I've NEVER had luck free-handing stuff.  So if I'm getting a mill, I'll wait until then.  Even if it'll be a while.  Probably not until autumn at the absolute EARLIEST...  Sorry y'all!!  I'm just not willing to risk a $600+ stock blank.

Yeah, these McMillan stocks are NOT cheap.  Plus almost all of them are custom orders, and the adjustable cheek piece and adjustable LOP just added to the cost.  But at least I don't have to install those parts.  But waiting to do it with a mill is just plain safer.  MUCH more control.

I found someone willing to inlet the McMillan stock!!  I'll update when it's back home.  It'll be a bit though.  Next month at the earliest, before I can send everything to him.  Life is getting in the way again!     Thanks for following along!

No real updates, just some changes (what's new, right? LOL).  Nothing major, but just wanted to update the thread.

I won't be creating a physically smaller Power Plunum as of now.  The juice just isn't worth the squeeze.  All the time and money involved just to cut .75" to 1" of OAL?  Nah.  What I WILL do is simply machine a very snug fitting aluminum pillar to fill one of the chambers of a factory Power Plenum.  That'll net me right at or a hair over 30cc's.  I will re-visit the idea after I get my shop up and running though.  I don't like the look of the longer "magazine". 

I've ordered a LW .22 blank, with a choke.  The solid barrel conversion is a go.  Fun fact, in case you didn't know (because I had to call Utah Air to confirm): The liner lock (front threaded doohickey that locks the liner into the barrel assembly) has no bearing on securing the air reservoir of the DRS.  Which means I can get a tiny little bit more barrel length.  Not that a .25"-ish of barrel length will really matter.  I just thought it was good info to pass, in case others are interested in this kind of mod.

That's it.  Just those two changes to the build.
