Here is my tale of wow.

Years ago my TX200 was shooting just fine and I over torqued the screws on the side of the scope mount. This cracked the clamp. I ordered a new set of rings that were one piece. They did not have a stop pin but I am tuned to 12 ft lb and there is not much recoil. I got the new rings and happily shot my gun for years no problems. Until a couple weeks ago I noticed the scope was all the way back on the dovetail. I guess it did need a pin after all. So I ordered a set of medium rings. They were to low. My bad.
I tried using the clamp piece to repair the old ones but that made the alignment wrong. So I ordered a set of high mount rings. But one company’s high rings are lower than another’s . The ones I got are five millimeters lower than the original and now the scope hits the barrel shroud.  So I ordered another set.
But as I’m looking at it. My scope needs to go all the way back so it will clear the loading breach. And as I’m looking at it more I think the scope was in the correct place all along. I just made an assumption that was incorrect in the first place.

“ALL” of my scopes cover the loading port.
I use the cheapest rings from PA with a stop pin.
#1 & ## shoot at 13.5fpe.
#2 shoots at 16.5fpe.

I was going to look for pictures of tx200.


I think I am making something out of nothing. I am going to look back for photos of my original set up.

I don’t care about the front of the scope so much. It is the eye relief I need to get right.

I looked at it again.

First off the scope did not move. I found some blurry pictures.
And it is in a pretty good location. The rings I had been using have a big screw going through the bottom clamp part and there is not really bottom so there is no way to add a pin to them. I have the correct rings coming. And from the looks of things if I get a new level and move it to the back I can move the new rings far enough forward so the pin will align with the hole in the top of the gun. The parts should be here in a couple days.  But you know how USPS was with the last set.

I once read about a guy that put Loctite in the dovetail grooves before mounting the scope rings. He claimed his scope never moved. I don't know if I would take that path.

Shot my TX at the Battle Mountain Nevada FT Match. No stop pin on my setup (dont remember if there's a hold in the comp tube...) and it had walked back a lot... enough to move my POI off the target... One of the other shooters caught it, and I fixed it  but didnt help my score.....  Some one else there suggested nail polish.

Got home, tore the riser mount and the 1 piece mount off. Cleaned it all up with denatured alcohol, reassembled using pink nail polish (no loctite on hand at the time, the Mrs. had just finished her nails....) on the riser to comp tube, and the 1 piece mount to the riser blcok. Blue lock tite on the ring screws of the mount.  Also marked where I can easily see it, some witness marks on the nail polish. It has not moved in over 2000 shots.

Yes the pink is ugly and obnoxious, but itll be very apparent if it ever moves again.  Ive also learned to check it for movement before shooting. Google and YT will show some other ways of locking that stuff down without a stop pin. Leeson learned: check it every time you grab that gun

I thought about that but I like the pin even if my gun has no recoil. And now I think I’m going to change the scope. I am going to shoot hunter and don’t need this big a scope. I’m gonna get a 25x scope to replace the 10-40x60. That will solve it all.

Making progress

The problem I had was my cant level. It was bulky old and swung out . So it was mounted on the front part of the scope and the rings sat behind it. Now I have a smaller better level that sits behind all the rings. Now the rings can move forward. I got the correct height and stop pin.

Just need to sight in .

I really like these little bubble levels from eBay . They are filled with oil so the bubble moves slowly.

For eye relief a one piece off set mount can help and it can be used with the off set to the front or rear. Another solution if you run out of 11mm scope groove or mount and still can't get it back far enough is a two piece set with both rings in front of the turrets. Poor man's off set.

When the scope has to be over the breach tall rings or a sharp nail bent 90 degrees works with wadcutters you can set on the flat side and soft lead so the nail will stick in the rear.

This is what I ended up with and I’m happy with it. Or I like let’s see how it shoots.
But I really like this setup. I can see the wheel and I can open my left eye for the level.
