Tyrolean 77

Very recently I picked up a 77 wearing a Tyrolean stock.  I always thought the Tyro stocks were funky looking in a good way but wondered what it actually felt like to shoulder one and shoot it.  Well, I have to say it’s superb!  It makes a near perfect offhand shooter. 

Another first for me is the long action.  I prefer shorter guns.  This long barreled 77 works great with the Tyro stock.  Cocking it is smooth and easy.

This rifle has some definite signs of use but it is a confidence inspiring beast to handle and I love its uniqueness! 

I do have plans to give it a facelift but I’m sure that plan will sink to the bottom of the priority list.  Time will tell.

It’s shoots well.  I haven’t done any real accuracy testing or pellet testing.  Just got it on target and slapping steel with it.  I plan to keep it iron sighted.  I just love the look of this thing, long and slim.  I’m not sure what’s on the inside, I haven’t got that far into it.  It has a slight buzz but the shot cycle is a nice quick ka-chunk.  It’s very tame but the pellet gives a good smack on the steel.  Just but sound I would guess a 8.4 JSB is going in the low to mid 800s.  I’ll test it someday.  I do t know what the piston size is but I’m guessing it’s the 25mm.  It is Beeman branded and says “Made in W. Germany”

The pictures don’t reveal it but it has some definite signs of use.  I think I want to have a gloss blue done on the steel and get the dents and dings out of the wood, a nice finish and touch up the checkering.  I really think it is worth it.

 That is one cool shooter. I've got a super-secret stash set aside for a 77, not sure what I'll get maybe even a new 77K.

Super nice, man.  Congratulations on a rare find.  I'd love to add that one to my meager collection.  Also glad the stock fits you.  I shoot with a big guy who acquired an HW55 Tyrolean many years ago and just couldn't warm up to it and sold it.  I don't think it's a one-size-fits-all design.  You either love it or you don't.  I have a Tyrolean stocked HW and at first the feel was just plain weird.  Not really uncomfortable, just weird but I quickly got used to it and regard it as the most comfortable stock of any air gun I have shouldered.  Congrats again.

Thanks bro!  It’s surprisingly very smooth functioning with a slight buzz (not twang) at the end of the shot. 

I know of one, actually 4 but I’m working on them. The owner says that he isn’t planning on selling but I have my name in the hat for one or two or three or… 😎😎😎

Thanks Chris!  I was unsure of what to expect and it fit me perfectly right from the start.  Even the long action with extra weight out front feels nice to me.  I know that I’m holding something significant when I shoot it.  It’s not a heavy feeling like some guns have but it’s a quality heft that forms well with my particular person I guess.  There was a guy on another forum describing how one of his particular guns felt to him and it gave me a chuckle and was a familiar description…
