My tale of two 499B championship bb guns

Short story, bought a used 499 a few years ago and never opened the box. eventually I opened it up, and they are beautiful guns, nice wood, great metal and fun to shoot muzzle loaders. To thin the heard I arranged for one person to pick up nine rifles and a couple pistols and one of the guns I let go was my 499B. I realized that I missed the Daisy. So I bought another used one and it had major problems. I searched for someone to work on them, and found that the guys that work on the 4-H guns are too busy keeping the kids guns going that they are not willing to take on extra work.

Finally, Ronno6 agreed to have a look and since Ron was going to be inside I though one of Colbalts extra power spring kits was in order. Ron installed it for me, I got the Daisy back yesterday, and changed out the shot tube for a better fitting one. the new one I bought needed a shot tube change also, and now I have two 499B Daisy guns both  are shooting very well. In a day or two I will be trying to get some good Chronograph numbers to see how the Colbalt spring compares.

Thank Ron and Colbalt for getting me back to happiness with my 499Bs.

If you have one and it doesn't shoot as good as you like, try getting new shot tubes from Daisy, not that expensive and very simple to replace. Both of mine now make that satisfying clink when the magnet captures the bb.

 Cobalt has the shot tubes as well, got mine from him on Ebay.
 Found the zinc coated Daisy bb's work far better than the Crosmans.
 Also my rear sight and front sight inserts came from him.

I don't use Crosman bb's in anything.
My gun shoots fine with the regular daisy BB's, but definitely better with the match grade bb's

my mistake, moderators can move to Daisy gate, I have a couple threads going there on my 499s
