Hatsan Mod 55s
«
on:

The new hatty mod 55 turned up 2day
well built.. good wood but not as nice as my
mod 99 but that because of the grain not the finish..
I guess its luck of the draw to some existent...
Metal typical Hatsan.. good finish & blue but as with
the mod 99 the blue around the scope rail where it has
been sweated on " heat effected zone" is not as nice as
it could be compaired to the rest of the guns bluing...
guns operation...
Barrel cocking is tight & requires a bit of force to open
& close..cocking action has a slight grating to it..but
that goes away as the cocking slot smoothens out...
I was shooting .177 H&N FTT.. slightly tight fit..
but no drama..." was grouping quite well with them"
Safety... As with other Hatsan's I have owned it takes a fair bit
of pressure to release.. time / debur of the slide plates & moly sorts that's..
There is a hint of spring twang..but a lot less than some guns in
this prise range...
Recoil.. SAS system.. it can't hurt to have it... but really yer need the
non SAS MOD 55 to compare it to..." I have put a softer urethane bush
in the SAS on my MOD99"
Trigger... the quattro is light years better than triggers on guns in this prise
range... standard or after market...
I hope this is a honest review.. its another garden verity mid prised air gun..
BUT.. in saying that they are by far the best of the guns in this bracket..
with a trigger that some higher prise guns don't come close to... stone
the contact points / molly & yer love the trigg...
I will be doing a internal rebuild..new guides/seal etc.. stay tuned....

Congrats Pete. I think your view of the Hatty 55 was spot on bro. After I did the tune on mine I was just left with the tuning bar ring from the SAS system. Lite ringing noise after shooting. It seems to remove most of the vibration you normally get from a spring gun. And after the tune any spring noise is absent.
As you say for the price it is truly one of the best in it's class and especially the Quattro Trigger System.
